Show me the footage/articles of Tea Party public masturbation, public defecation, child p*rnography, rape, prostitution, stabbings, drugs, etc. You say 'when people get out in the streets' the carnies come out, but that's not true for the Tea Party. The Tea Party hasn't destroyed countless private buildings (Burger King, Whole Foods, banks, etc). The point of these videos is to show the difference between the mature, responsible adults of the Tea Party who express their political views without costing their fellow citizens anything and the children of OWS. The liberals on this board shouldn't blame anyone but themselves for hitching their wagon to these archaic idiots.

Exactly in the same ballpark, sharing the same hotdog vendor. The use of 100 tanks and helicopters in Syria is not the equivalent of the use of 100 tanks and helis in the US.

Think about what it would mean if tanks and helicopters rolled into NY and started kicking ass. This happens every other day in the middle east somewhere, it happens every once in a while in Syria or Iran. It's not even news a lot of times. How many people know how many tanks are being used to keep Homs under siege for example?

If tanks and helis rolled into NY that night to clean this up, the world would be a pretty different place the next morning IMO, nevermind that OWS would grow exponentially. Just think of all the people who have bought guns waiting for that kind of day to unleash there own stupidity. This is a very twitchy group of people I imagine.

I think you're underestimating the ability of a protest group to change its mood, and this kind of operation is tip-toeing on their nerves. IMO it's big news, though I can see why an editor wouldn't think so.

Surely, you know they know this?

Wall Street was chosen as a symbolic location to replicate the Egyptian protestors' choice of Tahrir square. Tahrir square is not and was not the center of corruption either.

I'm also quite sure the adbusters people who drove the wall street idea are fully aware that it's important to use a name whose name is very popular - this generates massive benefits in social media, web searches, etc.

Keep it on-message, and on-point on these key issues, and OWS will thrive.

1-American banks were caught deliberately laundering drug money, and by and large got away with it.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/apr/03/us-bank-mexico-drug-gangs

2-Wall Street deliberately inflated commodity prices, which caused thousands to starve.

    http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2011/04/27/how_goldman_sachs_created_the_food_crisis?page=full

3-Executives like Joe Cassano left with millions of dollars for burning the American economy to the ground.

    http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1877351_1877350_1877321,00.html

4-CDOs like Abacus were created to burn the system down, and Wall Street sellers were peddling these products even when they knew they were utter garbage. Some even placed bets against Abacus, in effect selling customers cars primed to explode, and then taking life insurance premiums on them.

    http://articles.businessinsider.com/2011-06-28/wall_street/29999811_1_kobe-beef-justice-system-sense

5-2008 was ENTIRELY caused by private MBS. Stop bull****ting with CRA and GSE bulls*** (oh the poor and Freddie Mac are to blame!), the explosion of pure, profit-seeking, private MBS, an exogenous factor, caused the fall of the system. Wall Street is to blame for the largest destruction of middle-class assets in history, and for essentially creating a system that stole from pensions.

6-The vast majority of the richest 400 take their profits out in dividends, and pay less in tax than hard-working doctors and lawyers filing W-2s.

7-Vulture funds propped up by Wall Street consultants prey on the weak and the destitute. This includes sapping countries like the DRC, for illegally obtained debts.

8-The system is utterly f**ked. For all of the talk about how the 99% are part of the top 5% in the world---it's the system maintained by the top 1% that ensures this. We are consuming ever-more resources, and depriving those who give us these resources any semblance of a decent life, so that people can play at a better life. The top 1% own more than the bottom 60% in America. The crumbs they hand out are not nearly enough to justify a 900:1 differential in wages.

9-Wall Street is about the most amoral place there can be. Cocaine and $1000/hr hookers. Expose the average American to the lifestyle that is being lived on their backs and you will see nothing less than pure anger.

10-Regulate Wall Street. Repeal the Bush tax cuts. Make sure the economy is based on benefiting the people, and not the holders of capital.

I could take you through regulatory capture, and how government agencies may be partially co-opted by corporate interests, and therefore trends towards malign neglect (and how active regulation, and elimination of conflicts of interest could solve that) but I'm not sure you'd appreciate all of the nice subtleties.

It's sorta sad that so many mentally-ill homeless people get arrested in the same area as these protests but the newspapers cast them as part of the protests.

For weeks now the cops have been harassing the homeless and drug addicts, telling them it's safe around Liberty Park.

Scared??? I am not scared of anything. I just find it ridiculous that a bunch a lazy people want to recreate the greatest country in the world so they can get handouts. The OWS people need to go out and get a job!!! They need to give up their envy of what other people have and wanting to take from them and just make their own way in life.

You don't think taking corporate money out of our politics and having campaign finance reform (with teeth) would recreate our democracy?

Yeah that's all it is, everyone who doesn't have job only doesn't have one because they are lazy and want handouts. It has nothing to do with the economy.

Nevermind that the group that receives the most welfare are the elderly. Those elderly people are so lazy and just want to live off of others. Why don't they go out and get a job!!!!?

Nevermind that the largest welfare expenditure is for medical services. If only elderly people didn't want to be in good health.

I'm with you!!!!! Down with the elderly!!!! They are the entitlement class mooching off of everyone else who's willing to work.

Are you talking about taking away all the political money from unions and all the George Soros funded political organizations too?

FYI, MOST of the elderly actual WORKED and CONTRIBUTED to Social Security and Medicare. Most of the OWS bums never contributed to anything!!
