Luckily, if you do decide to return it. Verizon extended their return policy:)

yep. the funny thing is that none of the reps knew anything about it until i showed it to them on their website. i also let the rep know that it is highly likely that i will return it for the nexus unless i somehow fall in love with this device (i'm kinda diggin it already).

Does the Beats Audio integration makes a difference? You can tell the difference on the HP Touchpads

it definitely makes a difference on the native music app, but not optimized for others.

Do you mind downloading a free trial of Power Amp to see how it compares to using it's built in equalizer?

Awesome. Thanks! How's the battery on the Rezound? I heard it's okay but the 1620mah battery has me skeptical. I played with the Rezound back when it was known as the Vigor and it didn't appear to change but that thing has a beautiful screen and is very snappy. Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of the sense experience and all my HTC phones have run AOSP :p

I'm curious to see what HTC Sense with ICS is going to be like.

screenshot of the native music app with beats audio (beats icon in upper left).

screenshot of google music which replaces the native music app (beats icon replaced with headphones icon).

    screenshot of poweramp app

anyhow, tried my headphones that came with my palm pre plus with all three apps and then used the beats audio headphones with all three apps (had to uninstall and reinstall apps a few times).

    sound with old headphones:

    1. native music app- details of sound were missing
    2. google music app (does NOT use beats audio software)- same as above
    3. poweramp (after using equalizer)- fewer details missing, but sound was distored (and this can be because i'm not familiar with all settings in the equalizer)

sound with beats audio headphones that came with the rezound:

    1. native music app- everything was crystal clear.
    2. google music app (does NOT use beats audio software)- same as above.
    3. power amp (after using equalizer)- this was awesome

my conclusion is that poweramp and quality earbuds (not just beats headphones of course) are all that's necessary. so i guess all the folks that claim that beats audio is a marketing gimmick are half right. they are definitely quality earbuds, but i'm sure there are some nice (if not nicer) earbuds than can be had for less and used with poweramp.

    /derail

nexus training materials are heading to indirect us stores. us release still rumored for 21st and i'm trading this bad boy in for it.

Yeah, I know. I'm in marketing. Wanted to make y'alls hearts sink for that tiny moment. That tiny flicker of... satisfaction. For me. Suckers.

Thanks for the in depth analysis. I've used PowerAmp on all of my Android phones with good headphones and the sound is really clear. Oh man, I can't wait until the Nexus! Verizon was able to sneak in two bloatware apps. lol. They just had to do it.

Oh, and for you guys worried about this phone not having Gorilla Glass. It survived a nice key scratch test

It really needed the bigger battery to make up for the increased power of the LTE chips over the 1750 mah GSM version.

Good decision by Samsung to upgrade it.

All I want to know is if VPN finally works properly under Ice Cream Sandwich, and when ICS will be available for the Galaxy Note.
