Seems to be a swelling among Repubs to get Clarkson into the race. I think with his skills, he could win the next few debates and make up ground in a hurry. Plus, he's the kind of guy the Money guys in the party would love to see in the WH.

Haha, I love Herman Cain and hope he stays in for the duration.

I hear he is taking applications for an interpreter for an Australian vacation.

Debate's going on, and something I want to talk about:

I may be generally pro-Israeli, but with the British, Australians, and Canadians, countries that have fought with us in many wars and bled and died with us, why are they our greatest allies? Has the whole "We support Israel because we need them to exist for the End Times" really that pervasive?

Pretty well done. From a strict advertising standpoint I could the see I-Phone theme grabbing younger viewers' attention, at least more than most political ads.

    My impressions after tonight:

I'm probably just going to say "**** it", and vote for Huntsman if he's still campaigning by Minnesota ( which I doubt). He knows his stuff.

Gingrich I was very, very impressed by, and Bachmann did better than I expected. Romney seriously disappointed (indicting Dinner Jacket for genocide wtf), Cain and Perry were useless, and Paul is well, Paul.

What makes you think Israel is "our greatest ally?" Perhaps I'm misunderstanding you. They certainly aren't "above" the countries you mentioned, all close allies of the United States. The difference is that we don't send them billions a year in military aid. If they get in trouble with another country, though, like Britain and the Falklands, we've got their back, just as they would have ours. My understanding during the Falklands is that we sent the Brits detailed military intelligence about what the Argentine's were doing, and also sent them our latest air to air missiles (that were compatible with their Harriers). All as much on the down-low as possible, given the political situation at the time. Since 9/11, they've (the three you mentioned) been with us in Afghanistan, and Britain was in Iraq. Israel is a "special case," and always has been.

We married a Jewish Holocaust survivor in Germany in 1945. There've been fits and starts, but in this family, you get married you stay married, for life, better or worse.

I give Newt a lot of credit for saying what he said and not backing down on it. It's going to hurt him with the Perry/Bachmann/Cain voters that he needs, but it was the right stance to take.
