Gotta use a Kohl's credit card to get all of the discounts. Pass.

Depends on what you are after, and your location. If last year is an indicator, BB requires you to be at least 6 hours early to get the best merchandise. They are usually the worst. Wal-Mart you are already inside, but certain deals require you to get in line, which I've never done there. Stores like Staples have always been 30 min - hour. Of course with the main stores opening earlier this year, it could have a negative impact on Staples. Used to be people would go to the BB/CC and the like first, and then go wait in line at Staples. It was only a two hour difference before. Now it will be 6 hours. I will look at my BB around 8 pm. If the line is around the back, I'm just going to go to Wal-Mart and Target, and try to score online deals for what I want at BB.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but I read Best Buy is doing a 42" Sharp LCD 1080p TV for $199.99.

The catch? You have to have a ticket - whatever that means. I'm assuming it means I'll have to show up 2-3 hours before their midnight opening and fight with hundreds of people in line.

From what I've heard and seen about the whole Black Friday scene, if you change the word "hours" to "PM" then you would probably be more right. I've seen people camping outside of Best Buy in the daylight. My friend who works for Target told me they have a really good deal on a 42" as well, it might even be the same price

The TV at Target is a Westinghouse. They had the same one last year, and I could have gotten it, but Target just had a mad rush inside, so I could have gotten before someone else farther up in line than me. Got there about 2 hours before they opened.

Best Buy will have a line starting outside their store, at some point during Thanksgiving. Last year my store had like 4 people outside around 8 or 9 pm (store opened at 4am), but by midnight was all the way behind the building.

Anyways, they will begin giving out tickets at 10pm (opening at midnight), starting with the first people in line. There will be no fighting involved. They will go to each person and ask them what they want, and hand them a ticket for that item (assuming it is something they consider a huge deal). Once you have the ticket, you are guaranteed that item (at least you are supposed to be, as I've seen items disappear, and then you get a rain check at that price). When you go inside the store, you will be sent to wait in a line to get your item, and they will give it to you, then you will go wait in the checkout line.

So you get the satisfaction of waiting in 3 lines, but if you are early enough to get that TV, the lines won't be bad for you, aside from the waiting outside for all those hours.

Edit: Ultimately, there is no catch, and there is no fighting, but don't believe that 2-3 hours will be early enough. Go at whatever time you are willing to wait for, see how long the line is. If you see 50 people, you are screwed. If you see 10 you are good, and if you see 30, you can go through the line asking what each person is planning on getting, that way you know to not waste your time.

Walmart is actually pretty organized. They have different lines in different isles for different merchandise. If you want a TV on sale just find the line for that item.

Newegg had that same set over the weekend for $196. That price is about right for that unit.

For what it's worth, Target has this deal on their website right now. Posted today.

    http://www.target.com/p/Element-Electronics-ELEMENT-40-LCD-TV-40-inch/-/A-13864598

I went ahead and bought it tonight... hope it's a good TV. I've been looking for a 40-inch (ish) for the past couple months, and short of waiting 3-4 hours on Thanksgiving night, I figured $265 was about the best price I could get.

Went ahead and bought this for my mom for Christmas. Really can't beat 14 day price match and 30 day return.
