I'd take Matt Leinart over Kyle Orton any day of the week.

The thing is that is 6-7 weeks of NO weight bearing or exercise with foot. Even if a doctor says he could go that route, expecting him to be game shape and be able to contribute during the playoffs after being off his foot would be foolish.

Man, what a huge injury for this team...I wish Schaub a speedy recovery, but I suspect he'll be out and not come back as it sounds like if he pushes it too hard, it won't be good long-term...

If we have a first round bye in the playoffs it's possible. Assuming he starts football activities at 6 weeks he should be ready for the start of the playoffs (if first round bye, then 9 weeks after the injury occurred, which is 3 weeks of rehab/reps).

I'm not trying to be all Pollyanna here - but have they confirmed Lisfranc? Still just a rumor, right? Until I hear from the team officially, I will hold out hope its not Lisfranc.

Well, they have a very favorable schedule ahead and if other teams refuse to make tackles like the Bucs, then why not be positive? Besides, there is no way in hell that Leinart can be anywhere close to being worse than what Indy is rolling out there for a QB in Painter. I mean, when was the last time you saw a QB throw two INTs on the same drive? And anyone here who would prefer to have Dan Orlovsky over Leinart should check themselves into drug rehab immediately.

I heard this somewhere, that Orlovsky has never won a game in which he's started and that he's 6 losses away from being on two 0-16 teams. Kubiak made Schaub into a Pro Bowler and turned Rosenfels into a 4th round pick - reasons to be not too terrible devestated by Schaub's injury. Orlovsky, otoh, is reason to be VERY frightened......

the stupidity of some "football fans" still amazes me, especially sports radio guys. someone just called into 790 and suggested the Texans go after Vince Young. i wish i was in the studio to see Charlie Palilo's face because you can tell he wanted to laugh.

Just don't agree. That would be a highly remarkable rehab. Also remember, that rehabbing from a foot fracture, especially too early, can make you prone to other fractures, such as hairline fractures, a la Yao Ming.

He may be "Back-foot Schaub," but I just don't see him back this year.
