Not about politics but about facts. Stop listening to Rush. I am working this part time delivery job with these guys to make some extra bucks. One of them is talking about how he used to make $200K a year but then Obama happened.

Cool, I'm not going to argue. Then he's like yeah, the world's falling apart and Obama's on vacation. Obama has taken the most vacation time of any president. So me and a couple of other guys try to explain to him that Bush II is well known for his vacation time. The dude just doesn't want to believe us. I'm like dude, you have the internet on your phone, just google it. Still he just goes on and on till I just have to get up and go to another room.

There's another young guy I ride with sometimes, a twenty year old young black guy who likes conservative talk. I tell him all the time I can listen to anything on the radio but that. I just can't listen to the ignorance, its not about your politics its about facts. it makes my head explode.

Yeah that sucks, but it's all they have. Lack of facts is what they hang their hat on.

Obama has not only taken less vacation than Bush II, but also less than Clinton did.

Its funny that how much vacation time a President takes is a political argument. Politics are entirely bull****. Republicans crack on bull**** when the Democrats are in power. Democrats crack on bull**** when the Republicans are in power.

Why I hate arguing with conservatives:

Sunday I told my parents they need to rally behind Romney because he's got the only shot of putting up a fight against Obama. My mom says, "It doesn't matter who runs against Obama, he's going to lose. You could run against him. I could run against him. He's by far the worst president in history and you're just delusional to think anyone will re-elect him." She claims the economy will do a COMPLETE 180 the day the new president (doesn't matter who, just anyone not named Obama) is sworn into office.

You can't argue when the crazies start trying to convince you that YOU'RE crazy.

It's why I spend most of my time seething in silence around them.

Which is why, to me, this is moreso a demonstration of why politics are bull**** -- the folks I agree with will never be in power.

one time i heard a liberal argue that we shouldn't have money and just be able to give others what they need and everyone should just share. That must mean all liberals are like this, therefore I hate arguing with all liberals.

Liberals tend to do the same thing as well, they'll support anything and everything Obama does, neither side is exactly bringing an independent point of view. However, I'm Canadian so what do I know.....

its not about decsions, its about facts. i can argue all day long about obama's decisions on lets say lybia in theory, but the fact is he didn't commit any ground troops.

    theory vs facts.

If you were to meet some schizo who's convinced himself that the McRib is part of a government conspiracy to control our minds, would you bother arguing with him?

You already know what to expect, so there's really no need to waste energy getting frustrated. Just smile and nod and change the subject.

“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'

[rQUOTEr]5 Logical Fallacies That Make You Wrong More Than You Think

The Internet has introduced a golden age of ill-informed arguments. You can't post a video of an adorable kitten without a raging debate about pet issues spawning in the comment section. These days, everyone is a pundit.

But with all those different perspectives on important issues flying around, you'd think we'd be getting smarter and more informed. Unfortunately, the very wiring of our brains ensures that all these lively debates only make us dumber and more narrow-minded. For instance ...

Citing Cracked.com is pretty much one of the worst ways to gain credibility in any argument.
Other than Hoopsworld, BleacherReport, or TheOnion.

The bottom line is that people don't question what they think. Critical thinking is not part of our culture. It's not easy to know whom to trust. One data source on one side contradicts another. Sometimes one side if full of poop. Sometimes both sides. And once in a while, both sides are right.

Unless you take the time to really learn the issues and see ALL sides, you can't truly know the truth.

The truth sucks. It's a threat. Imagine if everything you think was true turns out to be wrong - that's your whole world.

Both liberals and conservatives are guilty of this. Conservatives tend to be a bit more in my opinion because of the indoctrination of religion (teaching you not to question but instead just to believe).
