So has the "out for the season" been conformed by the team? How can Shaftner conform this before head coach?

Out for the season is never reported right away by the Texans for some reason. At least when it comes to their star players.

It's as if they get news from their doctor that this player is done, and then they go try to look for a second opinion from Mars. If that doesn't work, they try to go on youtube to find a home remedy that claims to reduce injury time from 12 weeks to 3 weeks.

Then, when 3 weeks arrives, they say it will be another 9 weeks. Which really brings us back to the original diagnosis.

It's just one big roller coaster ride when it comes to the Texans and major injury reporting

That's not true. The only star player to be "out for the season" is Mario Williams, and Kubiak confirmed it immediately at his usual 3:30 Monday press conference. They placed him on IR. There's no motivation for the Texans to stall in that scenario.

When the team gets second opinions is when they expect or hope a player to return - as with Andre Johnson a few weeks ago. Schaub may well be out for the season... but if the Texans knew it, they'd say it. There's a chance he can come back, and they're trying to find a doctor that will advise a non-surgical recovery.

My bad. It happened with Yao, and it happened with Andre with the plasma thing. I'm just upset and can't believe the timing of these major injuries. Playoff and perhaps championship run in sight, then Yao goes down...Schaub goes down...Andre goes down...Foster goes down...it's always something.

Texans are holding out hope against hope that the specialists feel that Schaub can recover without surgery - a 6-7 week timetable that would let him return in January.

Usually, Lisfranc injuries require surgery and major recovery time following (4-8 months).

It'll be at least one week before we know for certain if he requires surgery. If he does, he'll be put on IR and that's that.

I don't think Kubiak conforms to anything Shaftner, or anybody says, really.

any chances this injury heals and tightens his tendons so that what was once a slow footed quarterback becomes an insane performer with his feet?

Exactly. I don't see how with a lisfranc injury, if that's what it really is, Schaub is not out for the rest of this season, and most of the offseason/training camp next year.

Kubiak pretty derisvely dismissed the report; seemed peeved by the question. Remember, a lot of reports had Walter done for the year and he missed a week.

I'm guessing they want to wait until the swelling goes down and reevaluate, exhausting all resources to get a definitive answer. What's tricky here is - with the viability of playoffs extending the season, could he come back if they continue to advance? If it is lins frac, that could be (if no suregry) a six-week process, putting him in contention to return for the postseason (especially if we secure a first-round bye).

So they can't look at this as a "What's going to happen over the next six weeks" kind of thing. Having said that, they'll want to know ASAP because I'm sure they're going to want to bring in a vet and putting Schaub on IR frees up a roster space - I'm sure they don't want to carry an injured guy who has no chance of playing at the expense of a healthy contributor on special teams, for instance.

Kubiak is being a little coy; but I really think they're waiting for alternate examines before saying anything definitively.

While its likely he is done why are the moderators staying with the current thread title? More like, "out indefinitely"

In Nashville, that was the talk on the sports show - that the Texans likely will contact Brett Favre . . everybody seems to be talking about it. I want this Superbowl shot like anybody but yea, Brett Favre would taint the special feeling a wee bit . . .

    Almost?

Have they started bringing in Erin Andrews and Michelle Beadle for segments?

What about kyle orton from denver. He is not going to be their starting qb anymore. Why not give him a chance. He is a pretty good qb. is it too late to trade?
