    Not really.
We watch the NBA because of Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant, Derrick Rose, LeBron James.
Even team-wise, we wouldn't want complete nobodies on our team. Its a spit in the face to every player that played on our teams prior.

Its a lockout not a strike. Don't see how replacement players would work. You would have anti trust issues like crazy.

To answer the Original question, if the player De-certification is ruled valid the ball is squarely in the owners court.

To clarify this is not a STRIKE. Once the Union does not exist their are only 2 ways for the NBA to avoid a Anti-trust suit.

1.) ( And most likely) The owners create a proposal that the players will accept and the Owners grant the players permission to Re-form the union so a new CBA can be signed. ( All existing contract stay the same and are moved up or down based on what the BRI ends up being.)

2.) (less Likely) The Nba opens their doors and each franchise independently agrees to salaries to field a team. Every one would in effect would be a free agent because contracts are linked directly to a CBA that no long exists.

If any of the above does not happen the courts have to end up settling things and there is no telling how they will rule.

Since this was a owner initiated lockout the owners have alot more to fear from the courts then the players do when it comes to a unfavorable decision.

The union said it disbanded and players are free to do as they please. Things just got interesting. This is gonna hurt owners and players relationship with their respective teams. It's never good to try to get the best of your boss considering you know your gonna have to work for them eventually.

I think the big question is why do we like sports when we're not playing it? What makes us like to support a team? The reason is that as human beings we need something to feel proud about. I'm from Houston, WE have the a really good NBA team, or at least have one, etc., that makes me happy. So that we have something that help us bond with each other ("oh you're a Rockets fan? No way me too"), or talk smack with co-workers and heck bosses with (Here's the TPS report Mr. L, and oh yeah Hayes is going to shut down KG tonight).

How many people are going to support something that they know it's not the best product? That they know is fake? People goes to the Lakers game because it's glamorous, not having Kobe there makes it not glamorous.

You want to know why Owners want luxury boxes? So business people can treat each other to luxury. Would anyone consider a sporting event with scabs luxurious? Try and take a client out to a NBDL game, see how impressed they are. Try giving your employees tickets to a NBDL game, see how appreciated they feel.

Part of the high of watching entertainment like NBA basketball is because it is special, it is a luxury, and we're the only place in the world with this quality of product. You know Basketball or Baseball fans from another country, if they are a fan of the sport, they would go out of their way to try and catch a NBA or MLB game? Do you think they do that for MLS even if they're a soccer fan?

It's not as simple as you think.
