The same guy who was giddy and smiling at the press conference after Andre got hurt?

    We aren't all stupid Kubes.

There is a much greater chance Schaub is done for the year than he isn't. Kubiak is just doing damage control for the fans.

I'd be shocked if the Texans announced Schaub would be back before the end of the season.

Looks like Kubiak just had a gold plated excuse fall in his lap.

Texans need to borrow from the Rockets and recycle this ad.

    More Kubiak on 610:

Those same reports saying lis franc. Can you confirm that?

You're trying hard. I just got out of these meetings, I got nothing else to say.

[Text] D's will now load the box.

You dont know how you will be played.

    Andre Johnson?

Until Andre starts practicing, you cant be sure but last week, we thought he was ready to go. Im expecting him back next week. Id be disappointed if it didnt happen and he would too.

1-0 every week you guys say. If playoffs began today, you would be #1 seed. How does that sound?

Sounds good but they dont start today. I know that. Our guys have been through enough and understand the highs and lows of this league. We'll stay grounded and keep working.

Off this week. What are the main goals of next 7 days?

Get these guys some rest. We'll spend a lot of time in the classroom. Reviewing the first 10 weeks. Wont be much physically. All about mental work.

WOnt be on the field until a week from Wednesday?

    Correct.

[Text]: For your RT Winston, will his assignments change?

He'll be important. He has played well. Played hurt for us but real proud of him playing. Had a few guys do that.

Antonio - looked like he didnt get his full load out there. Being careful with him?

We let him play. We tried to get him out of there towards end of 3rd. He didnt take any steps backwards.

    Vickers, is he ok?

Im concerned about him. Hamstring is bothering him. We wont know. He'll be in training room all week. Mitchell got an ankle sprain. Mister Alexander banged his shoulder. For Owen, it was scary on film but think he'll be fine. We'll keep them in the training room.

Update on Manning and hopeful to have him back before season ends?

Hes been running on weight-bearing machine. He'll make it back. Timeframe I dont know but he'll make it back. Dont be surprised if he does field work in next week or two with Caplan.

Schaub a significant injury. Part of your job to make sure guys dont get down or let doubt creep in?

Exactly. I went in today. Got out of meetings with our doctors at 12:15. Went into meeting with players at 12:30. I told them about Matt. We need to be ready to rally around lefty. They're upbeat. They hate to see Matt go down but understand. They've been responding well.

To be fair, you kind of have to expect this when you have a 7'6'' quarterback.

Oh, who am I kidding? Houston sports teams are just cursed.

This city is obviously cursed. We as fans need to discover what exactly the curse is so that we can break it.

Seriously. It's like some sports God saw that the Texans were going to be a great team this season, so first takes out Andre...sees that didn't quite do it so then takes out Mario...then after seeing that the Texans were still a great team takes out Schaub just to be sure...

Wanna puke? No, Andre, no Mario, no Matt. If the Texans storm to the finish line, Kubiak could win coach of the year.

    :p

This actually hurts worse than Yao, because the Texan's D is good enough to allow them to hang with any team in the league.
