No. If it's a Lisfranc fracture which needs surgery, then he's out for the season. If it doesn't need surgery he's likely back in time for the playoffs.

"If the dislocation is less than 2 mm, the fracture can be managed with casting for 6 weeks."

His tone talking about Schaub, and how he plans playing Leinart...I think Kubiak deep down knows. . .I can just tell in Kubiaks' voice
"Fight the fight - keep battlin- "

Only in Houston would this happen... on the best roll of our franchise, and a freak injury on a QB sneak while up by 20+ just to get the ball out of the endzone. Sucks to be a Houston sports fan :(

We are going to make the playoffs and get our teeth kicked in. If that's okay with you, then yeah, everything is going to be okay.

    More Kubiak on 610:

We've been talking about Schaub. Outside of what it means to the team, how are you feeling from what everyone has been through to get to 7-3. Overall feelings?

Playing good football. Football as a team. A lot of confidence and very physical. We get a break here, chance to freshen some guys up. A lot of good things going on but smart enough to know to stay grounded and keep working. Gotta play through more adversity.

Something that makes you feel sick for him as a person?

Its disappointing. Hes worked very hard. The position we're in and for him to miss time, its disappointing for him but its a part of the game. Its a challenge we have to step up and meet and help Matt Leinart along the way.

How well prepared is Matt to step into this role?

Thats why we brought him back and why he came back. He likes our system. He fits what we do from PA standpoint. Like the way our players respond to him when hes in the huddle. We got a lot of confidence in him. This is what he has been working for. We'll rally behind him and get his career going again.

Didnt work out in AZ. Can you talk about his problems in AZ and how far he has come?

I wont talk about that. It is a very difficult league. Some guys get ran out, others keep plugging. I respect him for trying to do that.

Will you have to adjust the amount of plays you can run with him?

He prepares very well. I test these guys every Saturday night. We do have to understand though he hasnt played a lot. We have to play to his strengths. We go from right to left. Its our job to put him in position to be successful.

    Difference between righty and lefty?

Movement wise, PA wise, how you move your QB one way or the other. It is different. Ive been through this. Had it in SF. It changes the way you call things a little but thats why you work.

True that lefties throw a different ball from righties?

It is different but they've practiced w/ Matt. I dont see that as an issue. We have to play to his strengths and continue to run the ball well.

Matt drafted in 06, how has he grown since hes been with you?

Come a long way confidence wise. They said no in AZ, we said yes, we'll give you an opportunity. Im impressed. Being a high round pick, it can send some guys a wrong way in their career. If they keep battling, you gotta respect that. I respect that about him.

    Relationship with the starters?

Its very good. I know they'll battle for him and give him all they got and more. These guys will go to battle for him. Theyve done it for Mario, Andre, etc. I expect them to do it again.

4th win in a row and smothering effort by your D. Must be reassuring that you have #1 D.

They played well. Playing with energy and doing it all day long. We need to keep it going. They're doing a great deal right now.

I marvel at Demps and how far he has come. He was on the couch and now making big plays for you.

His 2 INTs the last 2 weeks were great catches. Here's a vet, who has been let go, and had to start over. Look what he's doing. Thats a great incentive for Matt. How far we go and how we hold up will depend on how those guys play.

It's not like it's taken John Elway to run this offense. The big plays passing have been so wide open off boot legs Tim Tebow could throw them. Run game, defense, don't throw turnovers and we are still OK..ish.

If the Jets can do it with a not so great qb we can too.

The injury happened in the 4th, correct? If the game was a blowout, why was Matt even still in the game at that point?

Yeah, simple as that. That's why Carr, Rosenfels, Grossman, and now Beck are shredding it up.

It happened on the QB sneak in the second quarter, just before halftime. Had no idea the injury was more severe than a tweak.
