I took care of mine with no surgery and mine was a minor tear. Felt like my big toe was trying to rip away from the rest of my foot. 6 weeks in a cast. It's just that the ligament has to fully heal or it's time wasted. I'm not exactly sure about the Surgical Screws option, but I'd imagine that takes near as much time.

Wouldn't wish this injury on anyone.

If not for the freaking holding penalty on Chris Myers... sigh. The Texans started on the 5, but the hold on Myers and subsequent 1-yard loss from Foster backed them up to the 1, necessitating the sneak.

Oh, and Albert Haynesworth strikes again. :(

Kubes just said that they are evaluating whether or not the injury is one that Schaub will be able to play with, ie, play through the pain. Obviously he would need some time to rest, but they aren't giving up on the season just yet.

Kubiak on 610 for the next hour. What Innes posted was what Kubiak said in the first minutes.

    Kubiak on 610:

Congrats on the 7-3 start but obviously story is your QB. At this point, we got all kinds of reports. Schefter reported Matt is out for the season.

Thats not our opinion as of right now. We're in the process of him seeing some doctors in the next few weeks. He will miss some time. Hopefully we can get him back and we'll keep our fingers crossed. He'll be in a boot for a week.

Was the initial diagnosis is a season ending injury but you hope its not so that's why you're seeing different opinions?

No. We gotta let the process take place.

    When did this injury happen?

When we were inside our own 1 in the 2nd Q, trying to get room there, we ran QB sneak, it was a big muddle and somehow the pile fell on him. He got taped at half, he said he was fine. It was bothering him. They did X-ray after game. Showed nothing. Came back, got off plane, swelled up pretty good, did MRI, saw more and did a CT scan. As they progressed, didnt like what they were seeing.

Matt, as any starting QB, has taken shots. To your knowledge, anything pre-existing before he took that shot?

No. He was fine going into the game. Very unfortunate. We didnt think there was any problem. We get home today and get this news. Big win but difficult day.

I had a quick convo with him after the first half. I asked him how it was, he said it was fine. Did adrenaline take over in 2nd half?

I guess it did. Once they cut his tape off after the game, you saw the swelling and discoloring. We iced him in training room, put a boot on him. He said I'll be fine. On the bus last night, we had no idea but now we have somewhat of an idea but need a bigger picture. Very unfortunate.

On the bright side, we should still make the playoffs with Leinart.

On the depressing side, there is no way we have a shot at a Super Bowl with Leinart, something that I feel was a distinct possibility this morning. You just don't win Super Bowls without a very good QB, unless you have a rare all-time great defense.

Sure, if he can jump around on one leg and not put any weight on it.

Hope all you Schaub haters are happy.

Idiots are going to see what it's like without him, and they're not going to like what they see.

Matt Leinart has been to a Super Bowl. Matt Schaub has watched a Super Bowl. Advantage Leinart. #DontStopBelieving

Hey can we lay off the the official out for the year until the texans release it? They want Schaub to go under further evaluations before making a determination on his status for the season.

Texans are trying to ease the pain by saying there is a chance schaub will return. Reminds me of Yao and the Rockets.

Expect the inevitable soon IMO, but texans will delay the press release for as long as possible.

If it's a Lis France fracture, he has to be done for the season.

Wiki said it takes a min. of 6-12 weeks of recovery with at least another 6 weeks of rehab.

It's basically the same severity of Yao's foot fracture.

They haven't said if it's a sprain or a fracture.

They said they are going to see a specialist in Charlotte and that specialist in Charlotte is the one who specializes in the fracture that is leaked.
