Texans fans, get over it. Injuries happen. You're not replacing Aaron Rodgers

    MJ4Sports Matt Jackson
You have a bad ass RB, OL, Defense and WR. You're still going to get a bye

    MJ4Sports Matt Jackson
Matt Leinart with that running game and that OL will think he's back at USC.

Even now, Matt Hasselback is a better QB than Matt Leinart.

Which would make Matt Leinart 2nd.

I'm gonna be the optimist here in what is otherwise just another day as a Houston sports fan.

Schaub has been asked to do a bare minimum in terms of passing the ball extensively this season, with the latest game being a glaring product of that. All it will take for defenses to start respecting Leinart is for him to hit Andre, Owen, or Jacoby on a big playaction bootleg in his first game against Jacksonville. Our running attack IS our offense right now, and it's rolling. The addition of Andre Johnson will give Leinart a huge weapon, and a reliable receiver he can count on to be open.

This brings me to our defense. The way they are playing right now, I would put them up against just about anybody in the AFC. They are playing like men possessed right now, and with this new-found beastliness, I'm guessing they are taking today's news as further motivation to go out and crack some skulls. The Ravens won with Trent Dilfer. The Buccaneers won with Brad Johnson. Hell, Phil Simms went down, and Jeff Hostetler won a Super Bowl. Even Tom Brady wouldn't have gotten started if it wasn't for Drew Bledsoe going down.

I'm going to hope against hope that Schaub comes back for the playoffs, and until then, hopefully watch Leinart develop into a serviceable starting QB in this league. There's a reason why Kubiak stuck with him....let's see why. GO TEXANS!!

Relax guys, Schaub will be back against the Bengals.

    I know, wishful thinking.

Well, Kubes is only batting .500 when it comes to QBs...

Next man up is our motto this year. That and the 1-0 phrase.

It's a testament to the coaching staff that they have coached up and prepared each backup that took over the the starter so that we didn't skip a beat. Now this is taking it to another level but at least each injury have not happened all at once.

Good points, but Leinhart aint no Brady. Brady was a complete unknown at the time he started. Leinhart had plenty of time to shine in Arizona after Warner left and even then Wisenhunt thought Derek Anderson was a better QB than him.

Oh, I get it. For some reason, 2nd-best QB in the AFC South doesn't make me want to do cartwheels. At least he won't have to do much.

That's why I think this team will be alright. Daniel Manning went down and Troy Nolan / Demps have played even better, imo, with him in there. Not saying that Leinart will be as good but Schaub isn't a world-beater and Leinart is not utter garbage (i.e. Orlovsky). Go Texans!

TO be fair, Whisenhunt doesn't exactly have a track record of developing young QBs in the first place. Kubiak does.

We will just have to wait and see.

Leinhart has been given the keys to daddy's brand new Benz. He better not put one scratch on it.

Week 1 of the playoffs is January 8th, giving Schaub 8 weeks. If we had a bye, then it's 9 weeks. Wikipedia says 6-12 weeks without bearing weight on the foot, so I guess there's an outside shot that he could make it back for the playoffs.

There is one positive. At least we're not in the prohibition era anymore.

    Cheers.

If Schaub's replacement goes undefeated, do you bring Schaub back into the lineup during the playoffs?

No. You ride the hot hand. I highly doubt Leinart goes undefeated though.
