What happens to our rockets now?

    Picks? Contracts? Free agents?

    Any positives for us?

Too early to say really, does the league void all contracts? Does it just wait for it all to work out in the end?

My guess is that it just stays status quo until a deal is struck in courts or out.

I think uncertainty favors good management. So I think we are in good shape in terms of contingency planning and next steps.

I would be upset if we had to give our pick to NJ - punished for good record yet few recent playoff qualifications to show for it.

I hope Stern carry out his threat and make all players free agents.

Time to get Dwight and Lebron. Kyle Lowry needs good role players like these two to be more effective.

If everyone can be FAs, what stops 2-3 superstars pairing up at the glamour cities like LA, MIA, NY, etc.?

Morey is probably compiling a list of undervalued guys to go after like Bogut, Landry Fields, Aaron affalo, etc.

LA, MIA, NY and ETC do not have Daryl Morey and would not treat them like assets rather than human beings.

If there is no NBA this year, that is fine for me. Rockets would have a better chance to get better picks without a NBA season than with a NBA season this year. Of course I pay my TV money for the NBA games, I would like to watch the games if the players want to play.

Lol. That's better than the nets getting our pick. Im worried they'll get it based on whatever silly formula they will use.

14 + Knicks pick = star or potential star.

You think some of the NCAA guys will stay another year?

I thought it was established that we would get the 17, and the Knicks 9th pick. We forfeit the 17th to NJ.

First of all, the owners collectively would never vote to void all existing contracts. From top to bottom, NY doesnt want to lose Melo, as much as Minnesota doesnt want to lose Kevin Love.

Martin/Scola/Lowry will still be the Rockets rotational core whenever the NBA resumes. Everyone else will have to fight for a spot. May the best man win.

Second, Morey should be applauded again for collecting a group of talented young players who will be in line for a cheap contract with the Rockets. Im looking at you 09 draft busts, 11 and 2012 draft picks. 2012 or 2013(whenever they resume) should be very competitive for the last 5 or 6 spots on the roster.

Imagine the draft order being randomly chosen when they start playing again, and Morey picking in a fantasy draft ....

Or...imagine - - Dolan and Cuban and Buss recruiting 13 others and starting, or threatening to, a new NBA with every plated an FA. What might the other 14 hardarse hardliners do then?

Um...you all realize no one has decertified yet? They just started the 45-day timer to do so, and are certainly going to use the intervening time to force a better deal using the threat of decertification as leverage. Today was just the players playing their last card, the hand's not over yet though.

Furthermore, any settlement reached after an actual decertification will likely include reinstatement of at least the contracts owners consider important, if not all of them.

You can scratch MIA off that list. Without a cap, MIA can't compete with the revenue of large cities like LA, NY, CHI, or BOS.
