Yes yes yes it was a great deal for the players! Why do so many continue to act like 5.5 million average salary playing a game you love with 3 months off a year is anything but great! What was the average salary last season? 5.7 million?

Yes it was a great deal!!

Stern: "it takes 30 days for us to go from now to a deal. Our fans can look at the calendar.. and now there's no one to negotiate with"

    Jonathan_Feigen Jonathan Feigen
Stern said "now there is no one to negotiate with." Wait, didn't you say you were through negotiating? You played hardball and lost.

Stern has been magncificent in these negotiations, he has done yoeman's work to try to get a deal.

While I despise his rules regarding referees etc....he has been wonderful during this lockout.

It's all the Unions fault now, can't blame Stern for this.

It makes my blood boil watching Billy Hunter. He should have done this months ago.

I feel bad for D-Leaguers like Donald Sloan & Justin Dentmon who passed up big 6-figure deals in Europe in hopes of latching on w/a NBA team

    DraftExpress Jonathan Givony
Now they are stuck making 18-24k before taxes to play in front of no one and for a NBA call-up that cannot come. Who exactly does that help?

Owners aren't worried. I don't think they wanted this to happen, but they sure as hell are in a better position to get everything they want. The truth is that the biggest leverage players had was ownership not wanting to miss games, but that wasn't because they were afraid of players, but because no one (not even the rich) want to negotiate through lawyers if they can avoid it. And now the players have fired their only bullet and owners are going to humiliate them.

Is this real life? 1st this horrible lockout, then Texans are doing extremely well, and now I'm agreeing with your opinions on Stern and letting this thing burn to the ground.

To where? VERY few jobs open. RT @AlexKennedyNBA: One player just texted: "I'm going overseas." Expect a lot more players to sign abroad now

Here is something else to consider.

    1. The owners can borrow money against the valuations of their franchises to pay employees and survive the lockout.

    2. The players can not borrow money against future earnings, if those earnings are up in the air to beging with.

    3. The owners can simply end the lockout and tell them to get back to work, would the players go on strike then?

    4. This opens the way for the owners to impose their own system, and kill all guaranteed contracts.

    5. All of this will be worth it if we get a stronger more competitively balanced league in the end.

    WOW !

Pressing NBA sources if "reset" offer is now on the table. Response is something like "who would we give it to?"

    DraftExpress Jonathan Givony
They can't. They're under contract with the D-League. RT @quiquevich :players dreaming to jump from D-League to NBA will now consider Europe

I've been against Stern for quite some time, but the union messed this whole thing up. If they had done this months ago instead of now, the season might have started by now. If Hunter had agree to 50% a month ago, the lockout may be over by now. The NBPA has been totally incompetent and failed it's members in the worst way.

Stern isn't the problem here. Without him, the owners position would be more hardline than it is. He's been a moderating influence. Now, all moderation is out the window. Middling and lower level players will suffer the most and lose income and careers they can never get back.

This is why I said we should have done this in July bc at least the process would have been underway... even over! Now possibly #NOSEASON

Dude are you high or do you work for the league office? To say Stern has been magnificent is ridiculous. That'd be just as insane as me saying Billy Hunter has been fabulous. They've both been HORRIBLE!

Stern's stance during negotiating was maddening. Hunter's stance during negotiations was mind boggling at times.

NEITHER SHOULD HAVE THE WORD MAGNIFICENT IN THE SAME SENTENCE AS THEIR NAME.

Huh? How bout Stern not try to squeeze every ounce of life out of the NBPA.
No doubt Billy Hunter looks like a DAMN fool for not doing this months ago but to say you can't blame Stern is silly imo.

Simple: as long as he's playing in China (or wherever), he's getting zero exposure in the US or Europe. The only league that offers global exposure is the NBA.
