Singer crashes Obama summit with 'Occupy' song A popular Hawaiian recording artist turned a top-security dinner of Pacific Rim leaders hosted by President Barack Obama into a subtle protest with a song in support of the "Occupy" movement. Makana, who goes by one name, was enlisted to play a luau, or Hawaiian feast, Saturday night for leaders assembled in Obama's birthplace Honolulu for an annual summit that is formulating plans for a Pacific free-trade pact. But in the midst of the dinner on the resort strip Waikiki Beach, he pulled open his jacket to reveal a T-shirt that read "Occupy with Aloha," using the Hawaiian word whose various meanings include love and peace. He then sang a marathon version of his new song "We Are The Many." "I was pretty nervous. In fact I was terrified. I kept thinking 'what are the consequences going to be?'" Makana, 33, told AFP. "It was incredibly comical. I was terrified but also enjoying it," he said. Makana, who was born Matthew Swalinkavich, said the song prompted awkward stares from a few of those present but the Obamas appeared too absorbed with their guests to notice what was happening. The performance occurred at a dinner for summit participants from 21 economies around the Asia-Pacific, including Chinese President Hu Jintao and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, amid a security lockdown in Waikiki. As Makana sang, about 400 protesters including anti-globalization and native Hawaiian rights activists staged a protest march toward the dinner site but turned back after encountering the smothering security. Makana released the song on the Internet the day before and decided to play it at the urging of fans, he said. Inspired by the anti-capitalist movement that began with the "Occupy Wall Street" demonstrations in New York, it denounces Washington politicians, corporate greed and what he sees as an unfair American economic system. The song features the refrain, "We’ll occupy the streets, we’ll occupy the courts, we’ll occupy the offices of you, till you do the bidding of the many, not the few." He sang it "over and over" for 40 minutes, varying his tempo and delivery to avoid triggering an overt reaction. "Whenever I felt the heat might come down, I would ease off. It was a very careful procedure," he said.

These are sidetracks. You should be able to tell by now that we recognize it when you do it. But I will play along because I am waiting in line at the bank again. Yes I do desire that, because we must catch thieves. What if someone stole all your money? Shouldn't they justify their money/possessions? Then again, if you are similar to the people I think you support, none of your money is in the US anyway. But to answer your question again, yes, yes I do. I wish to live in a country where money and posessions are the most tightly monitored in the world. Because I am not obsessed with money, I didn't steal my money, I earned it, and I have nothing to hide. So if someone wants to come audit my possessions/money and it will allow other people to re-aquire legally and illegally stolen money, then by all means. Moreover I want this country to de-peg from all other countries, and increase the level of authorisation required for printing money - I don't wish to entrust the head of a federal reserve with the ultimate power to print/buy/lend money. Tha'ts what I think about money. I don't think it's that private. I tell everyone exactly how much I make, how much I have in my bank account, how much I owe the bank, my POS limit on my credit card, everything. I have absolutely no urge to keep it private, I don't understand why currency is treated this way. The only way I can figure it out is - who would be motivated to push for this kind of senseless over-privacy? It's just money. It only matters because I don't know where MINE went. Since this is a finite pool, there is a way to find out. The first step didn't work: over-the-hill people discussing for years and years how to generate a new set of standards. For example, by the time Basel 3 or anything useful is implemented, the market will have thought of a new plan, developed the technology, trained/empowered the necessary people, and on the way to another crisis in the next 10-15 years (IMO we'll have another one in 7-8 years, but we'll see). Where the F is the money? It's time to find out. We can't keep acting like hamsters in a cage. Normally, you shouldn't have to justify what you own. But we haven't been in "normally" mode for a long long time. Let's go back to NOT justifying your money AFTER we find all the lost money. For the time being, let the thieves whimper.

Do they not have electronic banking where you are now? The only time I actually go to a bank is to give them checks and pick up cash. And with 4 banks at every intersection, I can't imagine waiting in a two car line much less actually getting out. When all truth is known the world will be free. I'm rattling around the Information Vs. Disinformation idea to flesh it out but keep it concise. My gut says it's the root and the future on a good Vs. evil scale. People, given real information, as a group will make choices in the free market of ideas, that reflect a universal (evolving) set of ideals that will promote the greater good (collectivism); because the chances of being better off when a rising tide raises all boats, is better than the chances of ( and stresses of) rising above the mean. The information side is 'inclusive'. But the disinformation side tends to self-interested, exclusive, using therefore dubious means to rise above. By definition they are not interested in universal truth, so the are not limited by any code of ethics. They will lie, steal, cheat, pollute, torture, and most insidiously, issue disinformation as truth. The corporate interested PAC is just the future version of the King and Priest. They control the narrative, what god wants, who the enemy is, what the power alliances are, to maintain themselves as the privileged few. But the revolutionary actions of The People are always toward the inclusive. (from the the simple toward the complex... entropy Bob) Yup, this is what I do at 6 AM.
While I disagree with police moving in to force Occupy groups out of their public camps I am starting to feel that the OWS message is getting sidetracked by the occupations. The message now seems more about maintaining occupation than it is about economic justice and accountability. If this movement is to be able to have any staying power the tactics need to change.
Protesting the protesters They don't go protest the people violating the law. They go protest the government helping these knuckles violate the law. That's how it is done.

The poll linked says 31% approve of the tea party.............. 31 >30. I guess they didn't poll 'true' Americans.
The poll linked also said that 45% disapproved of the TEA Party where only 31% disapproved of the OWS folks. Guess you only see the numbers you want to see.

OWS demonizes powerful banks. The Tea Party demonizes the poorest and weakest of us all. We know where America stands!
