So leadership, fieriness, heart, and instensity matter.

Unless you're as good as Rodgers, then it doesn't.

Just making the point that you don't have to be all hellfire and brimstone to be a good QB.

I'm not all that concerned about where we'll end up. I'm starting to get worried about what happens when the playoffs start...

We're doing exactly what we're supposed to be doing right now -- beating teams we're supposed to beat and competing with teams that are of our caliber. I'll take it a step further, we don't just beat the teams we're supposed to beat, we completely run them over.

But what happens when the lack of recent competition and getting to face good opposing QB's catches up with us in the playoffs? Do we experience a letdown?

This team still hasn't really seized the opportunity to get a signature road win against a good team yet. I'm not sure they know how to win in the face of real adversity. They can win, don't get me wrong, but they're just not getting tested.

Oh well. At least we're finally getting in.

Why would you worry about that? It's not like we'll be on the road at all throughout the playoffs...

I said before the season 12-4 and the number 1 or 2 seed, will stick with that.

LOL, 10 years of Texans football has really beaten down this fanbase. We're like an abused woman who finally meets a nice guy and doesn't know how to function in a normal relationship.

Maybe they're not getting tested because they're really good. And if the titans keep playing like they did yesterday, I would count the win at their place as a good signature road win.

    Damn titans won't go away...

I would love to know where everyone stands now, in regards to this season. Let's assume #1 or 2 seed but a one-and-done playoff run - will you be disappointed?

I know you'll be disappointed; I mean *disappointed*? Are we going to be bombarded with calls the next day for Kubiak's job? Schaub's head? etc., etc.

If they get to 11+ wins and then lose their first playoff game, I'll ultimately (much, much later) be satisfied with this season. If they revert to 8-9 wins next year and get swallowed up by a harder shcedule, my pass for '11 will probably be revoked. As long as this is the start of a nice, successful run, though, I'll be OK with a playoff loss this year.

really? we haven't beaten a good team on the road? TEN was/is a winning team when we went into their house and kicked the **** out of them. They were also coming off a bye and had beaten BAL a couple of weeks before.

and what did the Texans do yesterday besides go to Tampa Bay? A place where the Bucs beat the Saints AND the Falcons. Texans ripped the Bucs apart. Our opponents look bad because we MAKE them look bad.

Ric, I don't know how I'll feel about anything at all. We've already been in alternate universe world for at least 9 days. This is all completely new territory all around.

7-3. Four games over .500. 1st seed in the AFC????? #1 Defense, #5 offense??????

This is nuts. Pretty cool, but nuts.

I am a believer now. This defense is legit. We just pounded four teams in a row into oblivion, and two of them were respectable squads. It's hard to do that against anybody. In year's past, we played down to competition.

I'll only be dissapointed with a playoff one-and-done if we come out and lay an egg or lose to a boneheaded gameplan/decision-making. In other words, if Kubiak does something like abandon the run (which he hasn't been able to do since Dre went out, so I think the injury has been a blessing in disguise) or call a halfback pass on the goal line that gets intercepted. Otherwise, if they just lose a tough playoff game I won't call for their heads.

These last four weeks are my favorite kind of football. Suffocating, playmaking defense and pounding running game. Bring back Andre and the deadly passing attack and the sky is the limit.

I'd guess an 11-5 finish. The team's bound to slip on a banana peel somewhere.

Thing is, hosting a game, there are no truly weak opponents out there. Bengals, Ravens, and, Patriots, oh my. Bengals, Ravens, and Patriots, oh my. It isn't like the NBA, where the Heat would host a 76ers-type opponent in the first round.

But things look good, don't they?

I too, am enjoying the beatdowns of teams we SHOULD beat on our way to the division title. It's rather nice bathing in glory during the fourth quarter. Gotta also agree there are valid concerns once we get there though. The Oakland game was bought up sarcastically, but that and NO point to the issue Ziggy lays out here. Three items - When moves start getting made by the better teams/coaches in the NFL, can we match them? And how much do we miss Mario against tougher comp? Having him occupying multiple blockers on each play is huge. In addition, there is Matt Schaub's tiny comfort zone/propensity for big mistakes.......
Anyway, We've grown up in the 3- 4 with guys getting acclimated ....and have a fantastic player in Reed as a natural speed rusher from the edge. Cushing has returned to BEAST mode. Joseph is an all pro CB ....The defense looks unbeatable right now.....We have a two headed beast at RB and a very good offensive line. AJ and Manning are coming back ....The Texans figure to ride a boatload of momentum into the playoffs. We'll see how it all balances out.

Teams coming off bye tend to lose lately. I don't consider Hasselbeck a good QB.

The Bucs aren't that good, I don't care who they beat. They beat the Saints? Cool, we didn't.

I never said the Texans weren't good, just worried about the lack of competition lately, especially from the opposing QB position. I haven't forgotten Brees slicing us up in the 2nd half and Heyward-Bey making our secondary look like they were asleep yet.

Yes, its all there. Everything you'd want and need to make a run is right there. But Kubiak and the team still have to prove they can win when it matters. They have to get over the hump. I think they can, I hope they can. But you'd be crazy not to worry.

I'd almost prefer we not get a bye.

I think we'll beat the living daylights out of Atlanta too. That offense has so much talent but they just aren't living up to the potential and it starts with Matt Ryan.

Carolina and Cincy are the biggest chances at a loss, IMO. And neither of those chances are very high.

I think we blow them out. Phillips vs rookie QB's smells like a blowout to me, I don't care how good they've looked.

Atlanta is a good test. They matchup well.

Yeah, I'm not even close to predicting a loss. But if we're going to slip up anywhere I say there or Cincy. Other than Atlanta, who I think we'll be up for at home and make Matt Ryan look silly, the rest of the schedule is cake.

too early to even be thinking about seeding, let alone playoffs. i wouldnt be surprised if the texans fall flat on their face and lose to teams we're supposed to beat. im just being real, and being real with these texans means that you have to expect the worst.
