Lets just hope the Union votes and accepts the deal tommorrow. Not that I actually believe thats going to happen, or that its a good deal, but I just want the season to start already.

Honestly, I think this will be a year of growing pains. I think the new coaching staff will be great for the future, but its going to take some time for the team to jell, and with no true training camp I think veteran teams will get the best of the Rockets this upcoming season, if there is one.

I see them making strides and being major underdogs who could make an upset appearance with the 8th seed in the playoffs, but I wouldnt expect to see this team win too many games in the first couple weeks of the season. Should be a damn fun team to watch though, and hopefully one or more of our young players break out and become a franchise cornerstone.

I think Morey may try to get Nene.

Try, sure... but is he going to bring this team any closer to a title, or just be enough to get them in the playoffs?

See the problem is, under the new proposed CBA, if a team gives him the "superstar" salary it could really handicap their flexibility for the future. You better be real sure he's the guy you want to build your team around. Nene is going to get a TON of attention on the market.

My opinion is that Morey makes an offer but isnt going to offer the "superstar" salary. I think the 14Mil offer is what he could get in Houston, which is about what Denver was offering last season. Who knows though, maybe Nene just wants to play in Houston and accepts Moreys offer, but I doubt it.

Everyone on this board has been craving a "shot-blocking center" so for the record, Nene is not a shot blocker, he's got some size, but realize what he really is and that Patrick Patterson, with some more time and some added strength, might give you the exact same production and have similar size as Nene the season after this next one. Realize you are paying a natural PF a "allstar or Superstar" salary to fill in as your larger post player, listed as a Center. He's not the next Shaq, Hakeem, or Dwight. He's an Al Horford, Dale Davis, AC Green type of player. All quality post players, not traditional shot blocking Centers.

I guess your right, but say for instance. We get rid of all of the 2009 draft busts (Williams, Thabeet, Flynn).

How would we have enough cap space to sign Nene this season and still be players in 2012 free agency (Paul, Howard, Deron)

    Amnesty Scola maybe?

Reports from Jonathan Feigan are that the Rockets #1 target is Dwight Howard, but he seems to think that they will still try for Nene at the right price. Meaning, he could be traded at some point if they fell into the market for Dwight around the trade deadline or in the summer of 2012. Flexibility will still be a major concern regardless.

I do NOT think that the Rockets will Amnesty Scola. There really shouldn't be a need to do so. Scola could still be traded fairly easy, and still has a few more years to be a major part of this team. Even if he is second or third fiddle.

Regardless of signing a free agent, the team still maintains one of the more flexible rosters in the league and should be able to either renounce all 2009 draft busts, or trade a larger contract or two to make room in the event that they are players in the 2012 free agency class.
