20 pages in and as of yesterday morning comments like this one are still leaving me baffled:

    some people are just clueless.

It sure does make point shaving and other "massive sports controversies" seem trivial.

Maybe Nebraska should forfeit the game this weekend, if Penn State won't. I just don't get playing football after what happened to the victims, even in the facilities of the program. As an athlete, how could you even take a shower after practice without vomiting? I'm not trying to exaggerate.

I live in PA, and take mild offense to this.:p

I live in the non-redneck (basically anywhere other than central PA) part of the state, though.

Seems like this would just be punishing the current players which should not be at fault. I would just look at handing down punishment in the upcoming seasons.

Well, the players enjoy the games, yes, hopefully. But they don't make major bank off of it like Penn State and the football program will this weekend.

And oh look, you can get Sandusky's 2001 glowing biography, titled...

Whatever man. You don't have to be in certain positions to know what you would do. I know if walk down the street and see a person shot or stabbed that I will call 911. I know if I'm at work and see someone getting raped that I'm going to try and stop it or call the cops. I'm not gonna just leave and tell my daddy. That's bull****. Stop making excuses for that dude...he was wrong period. Would you accept his excuse if it were your child or mother being raped? Seriously.

While we don't know all the facts, I find it very hard to believe that Joe would not know everything.

A player or coach can't fart on campus without it smelling in the Head coaches office, they know EVERYTHING that goes on...

And that alone makes me think Joe Pa got caught up in his own legacy and was willing to sacrifice a few no named kids for his and his universities protection.

And if true, that kills his legacy...dead.

You're completely ignoring context and looking at it through your eyes, and not the eyes of the person who lived it. I'm not accepting excuses for anything, or saying he handled it correctly. If you think I am, then you really need to go back and read my original post.

I just don't think I could live with myself knowing that I just stood there and allowed something like that to happen. I think that today's society has been nullified by violence and the fact that some people could easily dismiss a person being hurt is just sad...

I'm not tooting my own horn are trying to be a tough guy when I say, I'd beat the living crap out of a 50 year old molester.

I get what you're saying. He's also missing the part where McQueary grew up in State College and most likely revered Paterno and Sandusky. Horrendous loss of ethics on McQueary's part but it's not like he was some random student that happened to come across the incident. I don't want to make excuses for him but I can also imagine the conflict he was faced with. He just chose to go with the wrong option/path and now he has to go and he has to face queries regarding his actions in not notifying other authorities.

Totally understandable. I think myself and most on here would do the same in that situation and wouldn't think twice. The problem as mentioned is he let his allegiance to Penn State and Paterno get in the way of his ethics.

This to me sounds like an excuse... So you understand his dilemna?... What about the lil boy's dilemna.... I'm convinced some of you would've pretty much done the same thing... Except , you probably wouldnt talked to Sandusky about it....That's the loyal, manly thing to do right??....Damn shame!!

It's not. He made the wrong decision. What we're trying to illustrate is *why* he made the wrong decision.
