Glad to see you getting into Roxy Music and Eno - 2 artists that reward the listener on multiple listens.

I have a huge appetite for musical knowledge right now, and I think to truly understand it I need to go back to the 70s and really start hearing the revolution for myself.

Where better to start than Brian Eno? I also am looking to get down on some Miles Davis and some Velvet Underground.

    Some recommendations on the following:

Roxy Music - you already got one of their best but also get Country Life which is my favorite album by them. If you like those 2, then get all of the studio albums up to Manifesto (they became a different band, not bad, but not the same after they went on hiatus in the mid '70s).

Eno - is harder because he quit doing vocal albums early on but "Another Green World" is an unbelievable album and worth your attention. If you like that one, go to his Ambient 1: Music for Airports album (which is all instrumental and considered one of the godfathers of ambient music).

Miles Davis - Miles had so many different phases - personally I liked his 1st great quintet/super sextet and his heavy fusion ('68 through '75) stuff the best. Start with "Kind of Blue" and see what you think before going further.

Velvet Underground - I am going to be one of those few people who will tell you to NOT start with "The Velvet Underground and Nico" but instead start with their 3rd album, self-titled. If you like it, go back and get the debut followed by "Loaded" and then the 2nd (which is the most experimental).

put Miracle Fortress - Five Roses back into rotation. This album is too too good.

"Maybe Lately" and "Little Trees" are just amazing. Graham puts on an awesome live solo show.

Miles Davis - b****es Brew is where it's at.

And I agree with you about the Velvet Underground.

Thanks ManRam, I will give those a shot (Spotify is So Freaking Awesome).

Still jamming Youth Lagoon a lot right now though.

Its been a while since I have heard a pure unadulterated, innocent debut album as The Year of Hibernation.

    It is really so good.

It is what MGMT should have sounded like, but instead they turned into a bunch of try-hards and Congratulations was a pretentious piece of ****stain on the doormat of Brian Eno's golden turnip.

I don't disagree with you about b****es Brew although it is a little imposing to someone who has never heard a Miles Davis album before. It is brilliant but it is very attention demanding. My favorite Miles albums are a toss-up between "A Tribute to Jack Johnson" and "In a Silent Way".

Been on a major shoegazing kick (as if it wasn't obvious). T n F, Engineers is a great little band - their latest (which I need to get) has Ulrich Schnauss playing keyboards on it!
