So what is the theory of why Sandusky was STILL around the program a few weeks ago, given that JoePa testified to a grand jury 10 months ago and, at that point, clearly knew he was being investigated for multiple counts of child molestation?

I still think McQueary should be the target of all the hate in this, being an eyewitness, but as some of you have alluded to it seems like their were way too many people that were in on this and that's what makes it even sicker. I fear to even hear what's going to come out in the coming days and months about this.

I just can't even fathom how all of those people, especially the eyewitnesses, could do nothing. And that no parents found out and reported and/or beat Sandusky to a bloody pulp is baffling.

I had not heard that Paterno testified to a grand jury 10 months ago about this incident. As I said in my post, which you failed to quote, a lot of this depends on what exactly did Joe Paterno know. If he knew the extent of Sandusky's actions then it is inexcusable.

If you witness a murder on campus would you think it's proper to just tell a superior?

If you witnessed your mother getting raped by a coach on campus would you think it's proper to just tell a superior?

If you had someone you managed tell you that a child was raped by another employee do think it's proper to just tell another manager above you?

It's a total ****ing cop out to say that Paterno was senile when these rapes happened. Any person around Penn State will tell you that Paterno was still running everything in Happy Valley back when these allegations were first coming out.

This is like some sort of ****ed up Twin Peaks episode.

Sorry - that was the whole basis of this story, so I assumed it was common knowledge. The grand jury that indicted all these people was 10 months ago. In it, Paterno testified that the GA reported to him what he saw, etc.

DUDE, it makes little to no difference which of the above bolded specifics that JoePa may have been told. "Acting inappropriately" should raise a significant flag. Keep in mind that word was brewing prior to what the GA witnessed and if anyone thinks JoePa hadn't heard stuff/rumors about Sandusky's actions prior to what the GA witnessed, is deluded. My belief is Paterno (1) Just couldn't bring himself to believe that his friend was such a monster (2) Felt as long as he took some minimal action -reporting to AD and admin as well as forcing Sandusky to step down, then everything would be copacetic.

If this is true, Paterno knew all along IMHO...He new in 1998, which is why they tried to sweep it under the rug and force Sandusky to retire...but that allowed Sandusky to prey even more and that is the sick disgusting part and why I have no sympathy for anyone related to this Penn State scandal...

Agreed...how he continues to go unscathed is beyond me...he freakin' saw it happening and did absolutely nothing! What does that say about the kind of person he is...From a devil's advocate perspective, maybe he was afraid for his job/life, etc, but c'mon, that's no excuse to not stop what you saw...he reported it the next day, but call the fkn cops...covering up something like this is mind boggling...

What hasn't been touched on is the race and familial situation of the victims. I fear we are discussing predominantly disadvantaged African-American youth that needed the guidance of such a program like the one Sandusky founded. Possibly a lack of a male father figure in their lives and that makes it even sadder.

One has to believe that if most of the victims had fathers around, those fathers would do what I believe most on here would do if their kids were subject to such horrific acts. I basically mean most would go ballistic and "A Time to Kill" on Sandusky and possibly beating the living daylights out of him or just dispensing their own form of justice.

Perhaps he was just mentally f'cked up after what he witnessed.

My personal belief is that there might be a link between the fact that the former GA kept his mouth shut after telling Paterno whatever details he told him, and the fact that the former GA is now an assistant coach on Paterno's staff. Did he get the job on merit? Perhaps on the basis of keeping his mouth shut? I guess we'll find out soon.

Yeah there are so many layers of cover up that explain a lot of the questions posted here, if you ask me. Such as:

"Why did they let Sandusky on campus?" He had them by the short hairs (I'm avoiding other cliches right now :( ). Can you not hear him saying "oh, I'm staying away from campus? Should I just go to the local newspaper to hang out?"

And the GA clearly had a path to get ahead by being a "Penn State" guy. Rah ****ing rah. I hope these people burn violently in some hell, and I hope this leads a bunch of programs to wake up as to their priorities.

Jesus Christ why are people coming in here without even knowing the basics of the story?

If the sportswriter named Mark Madden who is reporting this "pimping out" rumor is the same Mark Madden that was a WCW announcer and commentates on wrestling to this day, I would put that out of your mind until someone else sheds light.

Madden has always been sensationalist and has never shied away from being loose with rumors and facts in order to get attention.

No clue, man. I've just decided to ignore the ignorant ones until they educate themselves to the facts. How anyone can post an opinion in this thread without at least reading a summaryof the Grand Jury Statements is beyond me.
