I watched this tonight and re-watched a few times on DVR. Just curious on your thoughts. Seemed like a great interview to me. Any thoughts on Clinton's views?

    Part 1.

    Part 2

    Part 3.

Bill Clinton is just smooth. I bet Clinton can sexually harass Rick Perry and convince Perry to thank him afterwards.

I mentioned this interview in another thread, earlier, but I'll add a comment here. Clinton is the best "alive and talking" reason not to have term limits that I can think of. He would have beaten Bush like a drum in 2000. We would have stayed out of Iraq. Those two reasons (beating Bush and staying out of Iraq) are enough. A better economy would just be gravy, and we would have a better economy, absent the Iraq fiasco and with fiscal responsibility under Bill Clinton.

I implore Bill Clinton to search for a loophole in the 2-term limit and run again for president.

    PLEASE.

Bubba needs to bow up and hit the campaign trail, every Democratic candidate above dogcatcher gets a fundraiser; rubber chicken circuit every night, Chamber of Commerce, Women's Auxiliary, P fki'in TA.

    But he won't.

I was trying to think of what you could make him? Chairman of the party? ... no, no day to day. Poet Laureate?

As much as I like the Daily Show, I cant help but feel that his demeanor and willingness to take guests to task is very different with conservative leaning guests vs. liberal ones. Last night he had Palosi on, and she espoused nothing but meaningless talking points and rather than pressing her on his questions, he more or less acquesced.

I respect Jon Stewart and think he conducts interviews respectfully, but I wish he would take liberal guests to task more often.

Clinton makes the rest of the politicians look dumb.

Perry makes the rest of them smart.

He's not journalist. Nor does he want to be one.

People have to keep things in mind - his job is to get ratings through comedy and appease his audience. Bill Clinton is on there to sell his book - no other reason.

There were some rumors that Gore would have put him on the SC. I kind of doubt it would have happened, but it would be cool to see him in oral arguments.

Bill was there to be a Beacon in the fog (his red nose is like Rudolph?) He's a born leader and he's just gonna lead.
    Ego? sure Patriotism? sure

Some thousand threads back somebody posted a little management theory cartoon about what motivates people to excellence and it wasn't money, it was sonthing about "mastery:

Some thousand threads back somebody posted a little management theory cartoon about what motivates people to excellence and it wasn't money, it was something about "mastery" and that's probably what drives Bill. He can govern like no one else, so he does.

As I recall the interview, Stewart pressed Pelosi about one or more tactical legislative moves (why didn't you do this when you had the majority). I guess he is less likely to have occassion to press a liberal like Pelosi on substantive things since he probably agree with her on most issues. It would be silly for him to feign disagreement just to argue with her.

He does take the left to task pretty often: had a few zingers on Obama last night, I think, also criticized/made fun of the Wholefoods attackers among the OWS movement (in Oakland, CA).

He doesn't treat both the left and right exactly and it's clear where his politics stand, but he is a fair interviewer.

We need to hear something from the Bushes. Where are they? Ah yes, they've been following world series.

Writing a book is hard work. My sister is a successful novelist and she's constantly writing, sending pages to her editor, making revisions... it is endless. From what I've seen of Bill over the years, as anal as the cat is, you know he spent a lot of time on it. I don't mind him making a buck off the effort. In fact, I'm going to buy it myself. If it gets him on Daily to talk to Jon Stewart, that made it worthwhile all by itself. ;-)-
