And all that's happening is that he's losing his job - unlike his superior, who's facing criminal charges.

That said, that's not ALL that happened. Even if you somehow excuse all his previous behavior for whatever bizarre reasons, his grand jury testimony was 10 months ago. At that point, he absolutely 100% knew the guy was being seriously investigated for multiple counts of child molestation. And as of a few weeks ago, the guy was STILL hanging out at Penn State.

    Agreed...And Sam covered it...

I don't get people who defend this kind of behavior...Yes JoeP didn't do commit the act, but he did nothing and admitted he should have done more...I don't understand the students rioting, what a bunch of d-bags...I don't understand why McCreary, the guy who witnessed it didn't go do more or why he still has a job...

This whole situation is ridiculous and even more ridiculous when people try to defend it...

I think they should have been on the radar for death penalty status before that last allegation, I mean nothing says "lack of institutional control" more than this scandal, but that, if true, seals it.

Meanwhile the NCAA is still too busy coming down hard on free tattoos for its unpaid laboerers and fighting in court to keep the revenue streams for players rights to their own images & likenesses out of their hands so that the cash will continue flowing into the NCAA and AD's coffers, to support million dollar salaries for guys like Paterno, Sandusky, AD functionaries, etc.

Hmmm, maybe not turning in a child rapist kinda, sorta, trumps giving money back to your school and doing your job the right way.

I don't think the death penalty should be applied. They haven't broken any NCAA rules, and I think the death penalty should be reserved for that. Can't punish the whole football program for things that individuals did that didn't even relate to football. They're already going to take a big hit recruiting-wise with all of this. Miami and OSU broke NCAA rules and have yet to get the death penalty (which btw is bull**** in itself), I can't see how you can give these guys the death penalty for something not related to the NCAA.

This makes me not want to be a football fan anymore. I feel like I'm supporting something that has gotten way too powerful.

I wonder if Westin resorts wants their ad space in another thread. There's a kid on vacation (at least in what I'm seeing.)

Max, that is in a whole new realm of disturbing. I just can't believe that's true. Sounds like hyperbole and piling on rumor-generation. How many pedos could there be? Maybe I don't want the answer to that. :(

Time to nuke Penn State from orbit - it's the only way to be sure.

And that is why I haven't said Paterno should keep his job or defended his role in this.

If true, Penn State's football program may as well get the death penalty because nobody will want to play there.

My gut feeling says this rumor is false and it's just some jerk piling on to a bad situation.

That's the crazy stuff I was wondering about last night. Where in the world has the NCAA been?

I don't think the death penalty punishes anybody but the players and alumni/fans. But it's pretty clear that the NCAA needs to go to the board of regents and say "fire everybody from top to bottom and start over or else we're going to come down on you with the hammer of god."

This is what I would think they would do. It's better just to fire everyone in that football program then to punish the students and the athletes.

Yeah, anyone even associated with these guys needs to be gone. Is the former GA, now assistant coach, still there? If so, he needs to be gone too. I'm amused that the pick to be the interim head coach was the guy that replaced Sandusky - he's been around the program this entire time. Is there not anyone on the staff that has some distance from these people?

Fire everyone for what??... .. If they did that, their would be lawsuits galore..They got rid of the people involved. Place sanctions on the university and allow the univerity to heal and move on...

So if the Miami Hurricanes procured a nuclear device and attempted to use it to extort $1 billion , the NCAA would be powerless because they didn't break any amateurism rules?

I haven't read the NCAA rulebook cover to cover, because it's a 9-zillion page monstrosity designed to perpetuate its cartel...but I highly doubt that massive criminal enterprises are allowed to operate with no ramifications for the athletic program.

I have this dark suspicion creeping in that Sandusky created Second Mile as his own personal NAMBLA.
