How can anybody really believe the nasty **** Sandusky really did? Absolutely disgusting to the point where it's unbelievable. Not believable is probably exactly what Joe Paterno thought.

Kim Jones former Penn State alum tears into Sandusky/Paterno. Insightful interview.

If Paterno wasn't Paterno, his fallout as coach wouldn't have happened like this. It's because of who he is. Obviously yes, he should have done more, but he's getting more heat than the actual pervert.

Because they're dumb 20 year olds...the exact same kind you'll find at every other university.

Absolutely shameful that the students are defending this creep.

Whole bunch of Ziggy's at PennState I guess - you know, folks who value a "football program" over stopping child rape.

    Real winners.

If he thought the grad student was lying, then why did he hire him as a coach, and why didnt Joe tell him to immediatly go to the police?

Joe may be charged under rico laws at some point.

Saw video this morning of students rioting on campus (turning over cars, etc) last night because of the firing.

    F***ing idiots.

"All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

Paterno didn't do enough. Simple as that.

At least he's not being charged criminally. Anyway there seems to be a lot of hate on Joe Paterno right now just judging by comments here and other places here. Paterno made a very very poor judgement call but it seems like a lot of the good that Paterno has done has been forgotten. I'm not even talking about his success in football but the nearly 90% graduate rate of his players, how much he has donated back to the school, never having a recruiting scandal and the high praise that former players and other coaches hold him in regard.

In an era of greedy and corrupt coaches in Division I college sports Paterno was an exception who truly seemed to care about being an educator.

Seems pretty much like the same story for all victims.

    1. Pick out kid from his Second Mile Program.
    2. Invite them to an event, football game, etc.
    3. Put hand on kids leg during the drive
    4. Wrestle
    5. Get them to shower with him where he makes his moves.

Pretty sick guy who was able to get away with more than anyone else due to his position of power.

It's basically like clockwork in this thread (or basically the internet) - take a controversial topic, poster ignorant of the exact details shows up, makes the idiotic general statement that "you and i would have done the same!" (something most assuredly untrue in most cases, that's why child rape is reported and prosecuted quite a bit).

Congratulations - it's your turn to be that guy.

Let me put it this way - when you have a known, admitted sex offender who you basicallly forced out a few years ago for fooling around with kids in the shower, who is reported by eyewitnesses to be rapin kids AGAIN, and your response is to tell a couple of flunkies and then say "hey stop rapin' kids...ON CAMPUS!" - that's not the behavior of "most people".

And again..."not believeable" that a guy who was busted for, and admitted to inappropriate conduct with boys in the shower is later seen raping them in the shower? Interesting deductive reasoning, sherlock.

Would just like to add a little context of the top and bottom of this.

    1. Students (and I know we have a lot of them on here) are really young and volatile, especially and overwhelmingly in groups. So yeah, there is outrage and it's to be expected. What else are they going to rail against? Students everywhere love to harangue against 'the administration.' Love their profs, and coaches, ... hate their deans and presidents. Meh. I don't blame them for being students.

    2. Trustees aren't really accustomed to leadership roles at the university and especially not press conferences. Trustees are most often recruited for very limited oversight roles and most importantly fund-raising. They are usually wealthy donors to the school who also offer some business savvy, investing advice, etc, etc. So yes, they meet with the president four times per year and have some meetings, but no trustee when they sign on sees themselves firing a bunch of people and going to a press conference. They're actually handling this pretty professionally, all things considered.

    3. Do you think the company SanDisk wishes they could rebrand right about now?
