I don't get this part. Billy Hunter is 69 years-old and has been NBPA Director for 15 years. Is job security really that important to him? How long does he expect to hang on after this?

disclaim vs decert in this case has nothing to do with NFLPA case, it has to do with the current NBA's litigation is against the union not the players. If the players decert, the NBA case is gone, because the union no longer exists. So it eliminates an obstacle. Do not underestimate the lawyers on the side of both sides.
