Andre Johnson is the black Yao Ming. The Texans are doomed! Fire Murray! :)

I think what it comes down to is the Texans were ultra optimistic about AJ's timetable from the start. They got everyone's expectations up by saying 4 weeks but the reality is that Andre had surgery on his hamstring. Recovery time from that kind of surgery usually takes at least 8 weeks. If the Texans had initially said 8 weeks and then there was speculation he might be able to play against Tampa Bay, everyone would be excited.

    What's not to get?

Even Andre himself said the doctors orders where that he would miss a minimum of 6 weeks.

It's been 5 1/2 weeks since his injury. I think the plan along was to have him rest up till after the bye and the target date was the Jaguars game after the bye week.

We need AJ healthy for the playoffs and forseeable future. Kubiak learned from his mistake of getting Foster back sooner than he was supposed to.

Honestly, it seems like this whole deal has been shenanigans by Kubiak trying to mess with the other team. Everyone knew recovery would be at least 6 and most probably 8 weeks, that's what every doctor said. Kubiak just wants to make other teams think Andre might play...sometimes Kubes takes his mindgames too far...

I'd like to buy into those theories...but Kubiak himself seemed hopeful Johnson would return two weeks ago, but Andre had to call off the dogs himself.

Sometimes injuries just take a little longer than you'd like. I was hopeful that we were getting close when he ran and practiced a while back...strange that he isn't 100% by now.

    true.

Also, as for the early optimism shown by the texans, I think that optimism was based mostly on the fact that they knew he would be back for the home stretch of the season, not so much that he would be back in a couple weeks

As Ziggy would say, Kubiak is playing peepee games.

Andre should play Sunday in order to test out his knee. If it feels tight at all in the early part of the game, sit him the rest of the game. He'll have two weeks to rest if he aggravates it. Would you rather him have a minor setback and then get two weeks to heal while missing no games, or have a set back in the back stretch of the season, and have to sit multiple games to make sure he's healthy for the playoff run?

For the love of all that is holy, please do not, and I REPEAT, do not play AJ unless he is 100%

We don't even need him this game. Just rest up for 2 more weeks and then be fresh for the Jags game.

Kubiak better not eff this up.

No need to bring him back this week -- let AJ have a full week of practice with no 'tugging' then play him. It would be silly to risk him when we are playing so well.

Said earlier in the thread if AJ can go, you have to play him. People here seem to be sleeping on the Bucs, they are not the Browns or Colts.

They have a bad run defense. If we keep pounding it with Foster and Tate, we should win easily.

Our defense will shred Freeman apart.

I say sit him this week, and can be ready for the Jags game, I know Bucs arent a bad team, but I prefer having him 100% for the last part of the season than losing him again for 5 more games, if he hurts his hamstring again.

I agree with not bringing him back until he is 100%. If he runs today, though, and feels like he can do it, and if he's telling the truth in that he hasn't felt the tugging all week, I say you bring him back. For reasons I mentioned above.

I am not worried either way. Even if he plays, it's not like he is going to play every snap. Best case scenario, he plays 15-20 snaps max (if that).

Gary Kubiak says Andre Johnson ruled out for Sunday. Expected back after the bye week.

i'm glad. There is no point to risk it at this point with a bye coming up

Yeah, I figured they would do that...smart play, IMO.
