If we do draft a QB in the 2nd round...I have a gut feeling it's going to be Ryan Tannehill

Speaking of quarterbacks would it be reasonable for the Texans to take a chance of Case Keenum? He has a quick release of the football and is a smart qb. I think he can be a solid NFL qb.

You guys can't be serious....neither one of them are going to be worth a **** in the NFL

If we are going to take a flyer on a guy Kellen Moore in the 3rd round

If the draft pick falls in the 20-30 range, I'd like to go after either a QB or WR. There's probably 5 QBs going in the first round next year, and one of them is bound to fall. Waiting for a WR in the 3rd is the last thing I want to do. Some teams can really hit with those picks, like Mike Wallace and Emmanuel Sanders, but Rick Smith finds Jacoby Jones.

We're not drafting a friggin' QB in the 2nd round.

We have plenty of other positions to address.

no qb should be taken in the first three rounds IMO. you have to address needs and get some good depth. We need a NT, CB, OLB, WR at minimum.

Tag Mario and give anti-awesomeness whatever he likes. Take the best wr available in the first rd, draft a pass rushing olb to compete with barwin in the 2nd rd and a dt in the 3rd rd.

Question: If we Franchise Tag Arian. . . . how much is that?
Someone was telling me that Mario's Tag would be around 22 Million next year
    and
I don't think their is anyway in h*ll the Texans pay that

I thought the franchise tag was the average of the top 5 players at that persons position. I doubt the average of the top 5 OLB's make $22 million per season.

It depends how much he asks, but I wouldn't resign Foster. Never put money into RBs.

We have to resign Foster. Period. Even if it means letting Mario walk.

Here's what I would do in the draft

Rd. 1 NT or OLB (if we can't resign Mario)
    Rd. 2 NT or OLB
Rd. 3 WR (We are relying on alot of vets and AJ isnt getting any younger) Time to find a stud #2 or #3 option for the next decade.
Rd. 4 Best DE or CB or S on the board..just looking to upgrade and bolster the depth on the second team with this pick.
Rd. 5 OL..same thing looking to upgrade depth on the second team.

After Justin Blackmon and Jeffery there are plenty of wide recievers i'd like to take but the one who stands out the most to me is Dwight Jones he is big physical and goes up to grab the ball think Hakeem Nicks. Imagine our opposing defenses who have to go against Andre Johnson, Foster, Ben Tate and Jones!

Just get Blackmon, you're set for years if you do that. Of course, that's easier said than done.

It is the average of the top 5 players at a position, unless the player's previous year's salary was higher than that, which is the case with Mario. In that case, the franchise tag is a 20% raise above the previous year's salary.

So, Mario stands to make about $20 mil with the franchise tag. I think they'll do it, but the Foster situation could get ugly. You cannot question his greatness, but his production can be replaced for the most part and RBs do not guarantee winning in this league (see Adrian Peterson).

That being said, we're really lucky we took Brooks Reed in the 2nd with how this season has turned out.

The early season red zone woes, and the 2009 Vikings run to the NFC championship beg to differ. You can't let talent (and youth) like Foster walk. If I had to rank the value of certain abilities and this is just barely, but I'd put 150-200 all purpose yards > pass rush specialist.

But I guess the question becomes who between Tate and Reed could offer enough of the allstar they replace.

No, the franchise rule changed with the last CBA this past offseason. The rule is now the average of the last 5 seasons top salary at the position. It's estimated this is a 20% reduction from the old franchise tag rule across every position.

I think it's pretty clear we should tag Mario at that price. We'd be getting him on the cheap.

Not sure why people are obsessed with letting people go. We'd have to go out and pay their replacements too.

I think there is also a clause in the CBA that states it is either the average of the last 5 seasons at his position OR 120% of his salary. Whichever is greater. I think that would put Mario's franchise tag at 16.5 Million. We won't tag him if that is the case.
