On pace to break records: 1) Completion % - 72.5 2) Passer rating - 129.1 (8 straight games of AT LEAST 110 ) On pace for 5200 yards, 48 TDs and freakin' 6 INTs with a 9.9 ypc I'm sorry, but this has been one of the most dominant stretch of games by a QB I have ever seen, if not the most dominant. I started watching football in 94. You can't stop this guy. The drop off between Rodgers and the next best QB (Brady/Brees) is HUGE. And Brady/Brees are having "great" seasons themselves. Discuss.

Not taking anything away from Rodgers, but I'd like to see how Brees, Manning, and Brady would do with the weapons Rodgers has right now in their primes too.
Rodgers is having a ridiculous season. If he keeps this pace up, he will be considered one of the best quarterbacks of all time.
He's my favorite non-Texan. Won't be surprised if he ends up the best of all time. The one caveat to Marino's record is that Dan played in a much tougher era for QBs with less pass friendly rules than today's NFL. But how can you not love this guy?
Some of the throws I've seen Rodgers complete this season I have never seen anyone else complete consistently, including Brady and Manning. It's not like he's dumping it off to the flats to get that 72%. I've just never seen anyone put the ball in the perfect place so consistently; if he keeps it up I'd at least call him the most accurate passer of all time (not going by completion %, just judgement).
How can you say that? Marino, played in an era where DB's didn't have an equal opportunity to go after the ball. They couldn't touch the receiver while the ball was in the air.
There are far more rules in place now that favor QBs/WRs than there were during Marino's era. Defensive holding, the 5 yard cushion, roughing the passer/blows to the head, defenseless receiver, etc. A PI call nowdays is damn near a coin flip on every throw, whereas before you could get away with bloody murder. Makes Marino's stats all that more impressive.
Rodgers is great, I'll concede that. But what does this say about the current era in the NFL? QB wasn't always automatically the most important position on the field. Things have changed. Will defenses be able to catch up with these neutered rules in place?
People don't seem to know that two seasons ago (just his 2nd as full-time starter), he had 4400 yards passing, 64.7%, 30/7 TD/INT ratio and a QB rating of 103.2. If he stays healthy, no reason to think he won't finish as an all-time great. The Packers definitely have a great receiving corp, but it isn't just that. Rodgers makes incredible plays, consistently.
He has a chance to become the GOAT (or at least legitimately in the discussion). Not saying that it happens but we'll just have to wait and see. Like with Manning and Brady, I'm just enjoying the greatness while it happens.
