REST IN PEACE, the rapper whose last letter in the name gave birth to my nickname. Que En Paz Descanse Girls, the girls, they love me... I'm the swollen headed lover, SwoLy-D.
I remember this here commercial was shown limited times but I enjoyed watching it: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wWXtFlvYpvc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I bet some of y'all didn't know who played this: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/bNN7slybJ8A" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Guy wrote some fun, catchy tunes and was probably one of the few well known rappers with no financial or personal issues, and certainly a mile marker of the early '90s and New Jack Swing era, but I don't know if I'd call him a great. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/cGmyqXnswyk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/yq1qBe7r-KY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I think he also did the second one from Season 3 onward, which I thought was a great improvement and coincided with the best year of that show, or for black entertainment in general ('91-'92). <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/eQqXD6SxNzM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Man,only one person called him great and that could be subjective. Perhaps great in terms of rappers the poster feels attached to due to a period in the poster's life. Not necessarily saying that he can/should be considered one of the top rappers of all time. All in all just a positive rapper. Good find re. the "A Different World" vid. I knew he was on one of those early 90's shows, I just couldn't remember which. Also, I love that O'Jays original version of the song. Love that and Heavy's version but not so keen on the Third World version.
Heavy D was always positive when in the media ..... Just hope the people remember him for being a positive role model... Because rappers nowadays are far from it.... RIP Heavy D
Can't believe I forgot Heavy on this Guy joint. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/JdFceqWv2OI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
