I think you know better than this in modern US America. Payoffs are in no way correlated to admissions of guilt or wrong-doing. They are admissions of: okay, we think this settlement is going to cost less overall than a lengthy court-battle in which a jury or weird judge could do something screwy, even after we win on the facts and merits. I'm sorry. I see it *all* the damn time. I mean: "Payoffs?! We're talking Payoffs?!!"
While yes payoffs do happen often but its not like corporations just hand out money to every accusation. The NRA came to the decision that the accusations against Cain were serious enough that if they didn't silence them they would cause problems. That tells me that they weren't completely baseless. For me just given what is publicly known I wouldn't convict Cain if I was on a criminal jury, or even rule against him on a civil jury, but I think there is enough out there that indicates there is some substance behind these allegations.

I don't think it's a big deal. She was asking him for help to get a job. She traveled to meet him at a hotel and had dinner. Brother had every right to expect a little something something. He made a move. She didn't reciprocate.
Honestly, They probably did a COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS How much would cost to pay them? X amount How much would a trial Cost? Y Amount How much would the Public Backlash cost? Z Amount If Z+Y > X then pay the women off . . .. simple business QUESTION [for everyone]: How do you feel about people who take the money .. then don't stick to the deal? Rocket River "Break a deal . . .face the wheel"
I wouldn't give two ****s about this accusation...... if he wasn't running for President. I mean, more than the sexual stuff, Cain's response to the sexual stuff should be the REAL problem. He was given 10 days by Politico to figure out a response ( an eternity in the 24/7 news cycle), and the result has been one set of bungling after another ( like after proclaiming yesterday that he won't deal with the media, he's going to be giving a press conference today). If the guy's going to bungle over something where he has 10 days, what's he going to do in a crisis when he has 10 minutes to make an important decision? I don't want to know, and Cain's response to the mess, even if all of these women are completely lying ( doubtful), shows that he's not the guy I want handling a crisis.
RR, I don't think these 2 women broke the deal. Someone else ratted him out and then he started to talk about it. I see it as a robustness argument. Bialek by herself wouldn't be hard to ignore. The NRA settlements could be explained away as business. But, the two together plus two other (more minor) complaints starts to paint a picture of a pattern of behavior. It's not just a bad thing he might have once done. It's a bad thing he does and that he never repented for. It was like this for Strauss-Kahn, with a bunch of other women complaining after he was arrested for assault. It was like this for Tiger Woods; by the time you got to the 11th bimbo, it was hard to say Tiger didn't have a problem with promiscuity. How can you continue to disbelieve when there is a multitude of complaints? That robustness is hard to beat.
If they were in the car it would be impossible to have one hand near her cooch and pulling her head towards his grey area at the same time.
The two women didn't break a deal. One of them wanted permission to speak about the incident, but didn't speak about it. Both of the accusers have stuck by their agreements they were paid for.
What kind of guy goes to rub a woman's p***y as his first move. I could understand if he was going for a kiss or some breast fat, but for p***y? Com'on.
As I said earlier though its not like corporations are just paying out money for every accusation. If they felt that there was a possibility of such an incident going to trial the corporation, or at least their lawyers, must have felt there was enough substance to merit settling it before there was a chance of a suit going to trial. As far as the accusers who took the money from what I have heard neither of those women are publicly speaking and I haven't heard any evidence that they are breaking the deal.
