This is a breathtaking video set to ambient music depicting Afghanistan's scenic landscapes and people from a perspective very different from the one seen on CNN/Fox News. <iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/31426899?color=ffffff" width="600" height="338" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen allowFullScreen></iframe><p><a href="http://vimeo.com/31426899">Afghanistan – touch down in flight</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/augustinpictures">Augustin Pictures</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>
Bump. Honestly, that whole region (Central Asia/Iranian Plateau) is incredibly beautiful--as beautiful as any other part of the world. It aggravates me when I hear Americans saying "just nuke Iraq/Afghanistan/Iran" and this and that, when they aren't even aware of a single percentage of those countries' histories/architecture/people and the extent and diversity of their beautiful landscapes. People tend to forget that warfare destroys more than the lives of humans; it can wipe away centuries of man-made wonderment, and millenniums of the Earth itself.
I always thought that the people of Afghanistan always have a varieties and unique faces from Steve McCurry photo books. It's sad that these women and children are suffering from these f!cking individual idiots that need to be wipe off this face of the Earth.
I was not at all trying to contradict you; in fact, I was trying to illustrate your last sentence because it made me think of those buddhas.
