It's more interesting than minutes 1-42, and games 1-60 of most NBA games and seasons, which is a big problem.

 

well yeah, because costs are going to be the same no matter what BRI split is negotiated for the owners, be it the 50% they want or the 43% they had. so in this case, any change in revenue split is a change in earnings.

i'm pretty sure the money was big when they made the last CBA. and really it's the max contract being small, not large, that knocks the money incentive out of whack with the winning incentive. since lebron only has to choose between maybe a million a year and playing where he wants and with whom he wants versus say having to choose between $15 million a year (he could probably get a contract around $30M in a free market) to play where and with whom he wants, it does make it easier to ignore the money. but you aren't proposing to solve that. and in fact the owners are apparently even trying to lower the max contract, hilariously subverting their own efforts to make players want to stay in place. you just want to say no one can move and cure the symptom rather than fight the source of the disease.

they do? it seems to me losing teams struggle to keep talent, but plenty of good players have resigned with their small market teams who were doing well. hell, even lebron and bosh both resigned once each with their former teams. they were there for 7 years.

is it safe to assume you would also be in favor of allowing the players to opt out whenever and renegotiate their contracts?
