So I am a geek, I had set up Outlook 2011 (Mac) to synchronize with iCal and then iCal to synchronize with Google Calendar (through some program called BusySync). This all worked fine on my Mac and my Galaxy Note (Android). But then I also wanted to sync it to my iPad2 and new iPhone 4S...and somehow, the iPad iCloud thingy wiped ALL my appointments out of my calendar in Google (which, because of the synchronization, then caused all of my appointments in Outlook and iCal to disappear as well). So annoying!!! And I could not find a way to recover those appointments . Any idea at all? Thanks...
This happened to me in the past with my contacts, there was no way to recover, I had to rebuild them all.. I now back up everything before I update.....and NEVER sync my calander that is stored on the cloud. DD
Well yeah, but I have been on the road, and my time capsule is at home, so I haven't backed up. Also, I felt kind of safe with my calendar because it was synchronized to Google Calendar and that was "not on my machine"...sadly, what I did not take into account was that I kept syncing and that any new sync that would go wrong would not only overwrite it on my machine but also on Google Calendar .
This doesn't help you at all, but how do you like the Note? Do you find the size of the phone cumbersome?
Love it! I don't find the size cumbersome at all, but I'm 6'6 with fairly big hands. I love the screen, it's brilliant. I also just got the iPhone 4S, but the Note wins hands down in all aspects.
Looks like I am far from the only one. http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Calendar/thread?tid=3f657f6362c2ddcb&hl=en https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3439851?start=0&tstart=0 https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3404804?start=0&tstart=0
iCloud = MobileMe 2.0 The contact syncing sucks. The photo's don't all sync. The calendars are just a headache to get to work. I thought Apple and Google had a good relationship, why can't they work together to make everything work like it's meant to?
sorry to hear that, sjc. i just finished setting up my other half's 4s and i must say that i'm jealous. was very skeptical of siri, but damn... it's accurate as heck even with his accent. a tad bit jealous now (f'er is gonna schit a brick when my nexus arrives). we didn't go the icloud route (i don't dig syncing with multiple devices- even if it's not my own).
And that's why we always leave a note... Er, um I mean use SkyDrive. Who wants to be in the clouds, when you can be in the sky!!!
not sureif coincidence but after i installed iCloud on my win7, it crashed. i was getting the blue screen. i was preparing for reimaging my PC until i remembered when i saw this thread. i restored it to that point prior to iCloud setup and now it's back up.
Islamist saboteurs? That is a b**** though, surprised no one tested out the sync feature before release.
