I remember a couple of years ago, there was an debate on which QB was better. This was right after the Giants had won the SB so obviously there was nothing special about me stating that Eli was the better QB. There were some posters who`d said Rivers was better, which we`d agreed to disagree upon. So after watching Rivers and Eli over the weekend, I`d like to ask you guys who you`d prefer running your offense?

Rivers I'm not going to take the 8 games this year over the past 3 years in which Rivers has been light years ahead of Manning.
Rivers is having a bad season, but I'd take him without hesitation. His last 3 seasons are better than anything Eli has ever had, including this year. Rivers' QB rating this season - easily his worst as a starter - is the same as Eli's career average.
Eli Manning on average is a pretty mediocre quarterback, but on some days, he can play even better than his brother. The kid is as inconsistent as they come, but he has shown that he is good enough to win a Superbowl.
I hate Rivers and that smirk he always has on his face but he is the better quarterback. He definitely is having an off year this year.
There is no doubt that Rivers has not been right this year and has made some bad decisions. That said, Rivers is twice the QB as Eli with 3 times the potential. Rivers was responsible for keeping the Chargers in the game against the Packers yesterday, and he was also solely responsible for the loss with those 2 early Pick-6s. If Rivers continues to do that over the course of a couple seasons, then OK, but right now he's had a bad half a season and I'll take into account the past 3 years more than the past 8 games.
This has turned into a really interesting debate. Both got off to pretty decent starts as QBs in the league, but Eli was the leader in the clubhouse after his Super Bowl win. Then, Rivers separated himself from the pack as he continued to put up bigger and bigger numbers with each passing season and Eli seemed to plateau. There was so much negative press about Eli Manning last season and into this season that it looked like Rivers would run away with it, but Eli has led his team to a good season thus far and the Chargers have had a decent season in spite of Rivers. I'd still go with Rivers at this point. I don't feel like it falls on Rivers' shoulders that the Chargers have perpetually fallen flat in the postseason and I'm also not one that values Eli's ring so much that it automatically puts him ahead of Rivers.
Gotta be Eli. Rivers has always had a security blanket in LT or Sproles, take away his safety valves and watch him be destroyed trying to make throws. Eli on the other hand can beat the Patriots and collect mad rings, and he never had a Gates.
Rivers has probably been the best accurate deep throwing QB these last 3 years. He sucks this year though but I'm still going with Rivers.
The problem with Rivers this year has simply been turnovers. He's still accurate, throws for yards, but for some god damn reason, he has had some poor luck (a lot of tipped passes for INTs). But some throws are just mind-boggling bad. This is Eli's BEST year, and Phillip did this on the regular for most of his career. We'll see how both ends the season.
Rivers is better and more naturally talented. Eli has a little bit of that "extra gear" needed to be great at times that Rivers doesn't have. To me, it's a wash. All I care about is my team has the best QB from that draft.
