Despite Blake's efforts, conversations w/ agents and players today suggest there's still much stronger support for rejecting league offer.

I don't think @TheNBPA fully appreciates that prior CBAs--while a good comparison point for negotiations--are by no means binding or determinative of what is "fair" after that prior agreement has expired.

Also, I wouldn't go so far as to call a reduction in salary cap exceptions a "rollback" (even if that might technically be what it is). Current player salaries are not being rolled back. Bird rights will remain. These were salary cap EXCEPTIONS to begin with. Stop crying "foul!" just because they aren't as large as you'd like.

I wish the owners were more reasonable, but the players need to just wise up, try like hell to negotiate tomorrow with David Stern for a little bit more, and then just take the best offer on the table.

Agreed. While decertification may give the players enough leverage to get the owners to come back off of 47%, it won't be enough to get back everything that the owners' current 50/50 offer contains. The hard-line owners are clearly willing to miss the season, so decertification will just lead to a game of chicken the players cannot win. Hell, most players are not going to want to lose all of the collectively bargained perks just so they can file antitrust complaints against the league.

Worse yet, if the sides decide to take their chances in court under labor claims, I highly doubt that the owners would be subject to treble damages. They have at least provided enough evidence that they have negotiated in good faith (not GREAT faith, but good faith) and won't get slammed for locking out the players like many union figures and agents are saying.

At the end of the day, the best deal the players can get will likely be the current one, with some possible minor additional concessions coming from any negotiating session tomorrow.

TAKE THE DEAL, GUYS! LET'S PLAY THIS SEASON ALREADY!

I thought it was interesting that Stern on ESPN basically said the court of appeals did not accept the NFLPA’s decertification. I guess the courts see decertification as a negotiating tactic by the union instead of true permanent decertification. Stern basically saying the decertification threat is not a concern.

Mason's comment is not to suggest that player reps won't be able to voice their opinions in the meeting. But no plan to put proposal to vote

Pls correct me if I'm wrong. In 98-99 when Union wouldn't put it to a vote;after some strong pressure from rank n file; deal passed 166-3!!

So what's the latest in non-tweet form? Still in holding pattern/pissing match?

David Stern on SC earlier tonight(paraphrasing this)

(On if the players decertify, how would it affect the process): Not much I dont think. NFL tried that and courts rejected that attempt. Not sure what they are thinking.(See what cdastros said)

    . . .

There is a great offer on the table. It is getting late. Only rational thing to do is make that deal. It will get worse from there.

(What is worse): We told the players an offer of 47% and hard cap.

(Owners willing to lose the entire season?): They're unified in their willingness to make this deal through Wed and then unified to negotiate only with the 47% after.

(Talking about next possible cancellation of games): Calender dictates that. We need 30 days to gear up. . . .We're not there yet and dont want to make an idle threat.

Maybe the owners could give in to the "no sign and trade for lux tax guys" as a way to let Hunter and Fisher say they got the best they could.

I'm assuming that the owners' new revenue sharing plan--in which the amounts of revenue shared will triple and then eventually quadruple--is still going to be implemented.

I would hate to think that the big market owners would be willing to pay even the most punitive luxury tax while at the same time pocketing the same amount of TV revenue, etc. they kept under their former revenue sharing plan.
