Cain was never, ever going to be the nominee. He doesn't even have campaign staff in any of the early primary/caucus states. He ran to promote his book and accidentally found out he was popular and was trying to figure out what to do next. As Cain falls, it will be interesting to see who rises. It's pretty clear there's a big anyone-but-Romney contingent that has gone from Bachmann to Perry to Cain to ???. As long as that contingent is split up, Romney benefits. If it can ever coalesce behind one functional candidate, that's the only threat Romney has to the nomination.
No one should ever be giddy at sexual harassment. I'm not a Penn State fan either. ***** needs to be called when ***** happens.
Perry is the one and only alternative left for the anyone-but-Romney people. Some people might try Newt for a while though.
You talk about a big fat bag of some dark personal history, pile on some Newt. In the old days, parties told people what was good for them. (hint: convention draft Chris Christie)
Obama doesn't have a chance in hell - I don't care who the repubs put up against him. I say it's a 50/50 chance that the democrats will field a different candidate. All I want is something other than a RINO. That means anyone but Perry and Romney.
Iowa caucuses are in about 8 weeks. You think some unknown Democrat who has no campaign organization is going to suddenly come in and take the nomination from him?
This should explain the answer to your question: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?p=5230279&highlight=Obama#post5230279
So, Cain is still acceptable even after all of this stuff? Just another day where I wonder why I stick around in this party.
I didn't believe Juanita Brodderick or Kathleen Willey, and I don't believe this person. Sorry, but timing matters.
It does, as do the circumstances. When Cain's a relative nobody, yet somebody with a bunch of corporate lawyers backing him up, what real chance does a woman have of justice? They can spend, file, and delay until she's broke. On the other hand, if the person is a real somebody, all of sudden you have a bunch of media folks who will run with the story and investigate the facts. If you've been through something like this woman alledgedly went through and nobody would listen and then all of a sudden people will listen... well, that might be more than enough to get you to revisit the issue. Brodderick and Willey aren't comparable here as both came out during the Paula Jones stuff and are thus tainted by that malodorous and illegal backdoor dealing between Starr's staff and Jones' attorneys. And talk about timing, Brodderick's "rape" was 20 years old... during which time Clinton had run for Governor several times and been reelected President. On top of that, Willey schemed with Linda Tripp about how to get into a relationship with Clinton and gave false info to the FBI. Additionally, Clinton was always a somebody and subject to enormous press interest, even when he was a governor, so there was plenty of opportunity for Brodderick to come out sooner.
it just happens to be coincidentally . .. the time you can GET PAID the most and easiest. So . . being good Capitalist . . .we start to look for the profit motive 1st the moral motive later Maybe even the revenge motive. Rocket River Natural of the Capitalistic beast
That's what I said Let the man rap a plan, said he'd see him home But his hope was a rope, and he should've known It's hard to understand that there's love in this man I'm sure all would agree That his misery was his woman and things Now Teddy's dead That's what I said
Cain is done. Thomas got away with sexual harassment and became a supreme court justice. That is a travesty to this day. But Cain is smoked. 4 women? geez. What a dope he was when he was young. Romney will be the nominee. In a few weeks we won't be talking about Herman Cain as he won't even be in the race.
Zero evidence Thomas harassed anyone. Amazing how accusations without evidence can be used to destroy someone's character.
Testimony from Anita Hill is "evidence," no? Whether or not one considers it sufficient or convincing is a separate question from whether it was "evidence." What kind of "evidence" are you looking for? Audio/video tape? DNA test done on actual pubic hair from the coke can? As for any of you defending Cain... Good luck to you. I hope Cain beats Romney. Latest NBC poll has Obama leading Romney by 6 % and leading Cain by 15%.
