A bit like Barkley, just not as explosive or skilled..... Chuck is only 6'6" tall though, he is just thick, Artest like...rather than skinny......or lean. He has a great understanding of leverage too, you just can not move a guy that much smaller who is strong and using leverage, and he is quick enough to reset if someone tries to spin off of him. What you can do though is just shoot over him......that is his weakness. DD

Agreed... it is the reason his height is an issue. A GREAT defender except he does not keep people out of the paint. An ideal guy off the bench.
Chuck Hayes used to be a situational player, not anymore. His offense, passing, free throws have improved so much that he is easily viable to start as a PF on any championship team. Put a good center next to him for help defense and weak side blocks, and nobody will ever score on Chuck.
People here have become brainwashed to accept one way players..... Patrick Patterson has the chance to be way better than Chuck Hayes.....not as good on D, but WAY better on O making it much more of a quality move. DD

I value offense more than defense.... I think you can teach an offensive guy how to play decent defense but the inverse is much more difficult, and the object is to outscore the other guy. Got to score to win. DD

I like Kmart have wanted him for years, but I think we have a viable option as a replacement in Courtney Lee who is also a two way player, so would be willing to package Kmart to a team that needs him for an upgrade to our roster in an area of need. In fact, I would trade anyone on the team if it made the Rox better. DD
Chuck is a great piece for a contending team that will challege for 3 years. here? He's wasting his time. We are rebuilding not resigning.
Talk about hypocrisy. And my point had nothing to do with whether PPat will become better Hayes, I'm arguing that Hayes could easily start on many championship caliber teams based on his skill set. Hayes isn't a one way player. We have seen time and time again how he is capable of creating his own shot once in a while, and his court vision is absolutely superb for a PF. That itself is a huge aspect on the offensive end. And tell me, how many championship teams out there can you name where the starting lineup ALL consists of good two way players? As far as I'm concerned, there is always a defensive stopper in almost every single championship team where their offensive output is not important. Ben Wallace, Trevor Ariza, Bruce Bowen, Tyson Chandler. Chuck Hayes' 8 points and 3 assist is pretty damn good offensive production for a guy whose primary job is to be a defensive stopper.

I think he can start on a team. A team with 2 stars that start. kinda like Taj Gibson in chicago. If we get Dwight Howard and CP3 Chuck would be just fine starting at the 4:grin:
I'm sorry, but I hate that argument. The objective is for the team to outscore the other team. But that's equivalent to saying that the objective is to hold the other team to fewer points. It tells you nothing about the superiority of offense with respect to defense. Also, IMO, Chuck was actually a better offensive player last year than AB/Martin/Budinger were defensive players. Not that its saying a whole lot.
