Also helped that his offensive line gave him a lot of time to throw. Any good QB can be great with time in the pocket, and he had plenty. Still props to Flacco. Didn't know he had that in him v. a great D like the Steelers
I wanted the Steelers to win, but gotta give major props to Flacco on the game-winning drive. He delivered the goods.
Flaco has done this before. Last year he was very consistent. Offensive line you say? How come Matt Shaulb can't beat good teams (teams that finish with winning records) more than once?
After that game, I believe the Texans jumped the Ravens and Steelers in total defense. #1 in the NFL.
Flaco's been to the playoffs and has one in a playoff game. Shaulb? Not so much. Not saying Matt sucks but he sure hasn't done enough to eclipse Flaco.
That was last year. Flacco had been erratic ALL season; he came into this game completing 53% of his passes, which is pathetic. Flacco has been a ghost when the pressure turns up this year, and mostly in part due to the pass rush. That entire drive, not one Steeler touched him and he was great. Well, the one thing I do give Schaub is he never has a shut down defense with him to cover for his mistakes. Can you imagine what reception Schaub would have had if he had a game like Flacco did v. the Jags?
But seriously, if the Ravens have any semblance of a consistent offense (20+ points), that team will win the SB. Too bad, they don't. So the AFC is wide open.
Have you been paying any attention to this year's Texans? They have the 3rd ranked defense as of today. Not being a homer but I seriously think we are the most balanced team in the AFC with a legit shot at the AFC Championship. We are doing this, mind you, without the best WR in the league who missed the past 5 games and one of our defensive anchors.
Flacco is mediocre for sure. Plays on a great defensive team, solid offensive line, Flacco is MEDIOCRE.
I'm not a fan of Schaub so I don't really care for him or the Texans. But all I'm saying is, give a good QB a shut-down defense and he'll win more than he usually does. Flacco has sucked this year for the most part, and his team is 6-2. The game of football isn't controlled by a single player like basketball, for the most part.
