or you could try to google each incident and see if the murder happened because of religion or it just happened to be a Muslim human who happened to kill someone for some random reason. It would make sense that there would be a big list of Murders that happened by Muslim hands since there are like ONE BILLION of them out there.
Actually, if I could, I would change the thread title to "Islamists" instead of "Muslims". I just brought this thread back up because I read these new articles about Boko Haram slaughtering Christians and Boko Haram's links to Al Qaeda, and I remembered that people were ganging up on me in this thread, claiming that the previous murders had "nothing to do with religion". While I understand that there is more than one reason for the violence, from the newer reports, it certainly seems like the religious motivation is one of the main factors.
I don't know if ATW is single or not, but this is the girl for him :http://taylormarsh.com/blog/2010/09/60-minutes-offers-extremist-right-wing-pamela-geller-a-platform/
The even better question is why it bothers you so much when someone points out the pattern of intolerance displayed in crimes by violent Islamist extremists around the world. Why does it bother you more when someone brings these heinous acts up for discussion than the actual crimes bother you? Then again, you are just "acting" on this BBS anyway (New Yorker, fake neo-con, now trying to endear yourself to the leftists), so whatever.
It hurts your arguments that you always have to try and throw in a personal jab, and make the whole thing some kind of ad hominem attack rather than just discuss your points.
So why is it necessary for people to respect and like something? I hate religion, despise it. Its someone's opinion that you can't possibly change.
So let me get this straight - if someone says they hate Jews, that doesn't bother you at all right???? If it doesn't there is something wrong with you to be honest. And if you think hating Muslims is ok, then there really isn't anything to say. Hating people because of their religion is pretty nasty stuff.
He isn't obligated, but being bigoted against a group of people is never a good thing. I don't think anyone is saying that he's obligated to like Islam, or anything else. Just that it's wrong to stereotype, and over generalize a group.
So, ATW said he hates Muslims? I'm pretty sure his issue is with Islam. There's an important distinction there. You started with a false premise, so you've drawn a false conclusion.
You go beyond pointing out a pattern of intolerance. You use it to denigrate all Muslims. You try to make the case that Islam is inherently evil and violent. And will not consider any other line of thinking. You excuse violence in the name of anything else relative to that committed under Islam. You aren't "merely pointing out x" you are on a crusade. This is personal for you - it's obvious that you devote so much time to this one issue and cause - that it goes beyond an academic exercise. It is your pattern of constantly attacking a religion and its people at any opportunity that makes it clear you hate Islam. Your "pattern of intolerance" for Islam. And that does bother me, because all hate bothers me, as it should any civilized person. You need to look in the mirror and ask yourself why you have this hate in you. Because frankly, it makes you of the same very ilk of these "violent Islamists extremists". They hate in the same way you do, and just like they are blind and programmed to hate, so are you. Wake up dude.
So in order to hate a group you have to declare it? ATW clearly hates Muslims. I never started with a false premise. I said it bothers me that he hates Muslims, you changed it to Islam. But in his case he uses the "I hate Islam" as a way to package his hatred of Muslims. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see he hates Muslims.
It is possible to question an ideology or religoin without hating the people. People are being manipulated to do nasty things - and Islam is at the forefront of that manipulation. Pointing it out is not hatred, it is just pointing it out. DD
It's not a personal jab in terms of an insult I made up or my personal opinion - it's a known fact that "Sweet Lou" used to be the poster "New Yorker" who - over thousands of posts - took virtually opposite positions of what he posts now. It should be allowed to remind people of that when it comes to judging a poster's credibility - after all, who knows, maybe in his next incarnation, he will come back as a Tibetan monk or something. No, I do not - the voices in your head are telling you this. You absolutely did. You can say it 1,000 times, but any person with at least average intelligence (sorry, this does not include you) can clearly see that there is no basis for this lie you keep repeating. Nope, not at all. I see that you do not understand the difference between criticizing an ideology (which I do) and "hating" its followers (which I absolutely do not). Because you falsely attribute this to me, the rest of your argument is completely flawed. I do not excuse violence, that is just another thing you made up. It's quite simple, you cannot be tolerant with intolerance. Your argument is flawed, here again, because you demand tolerance for intolerance. First they came for the communists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_they_came⦠I see a pattern of intolerance, based on a radical interpretation of an ideology/religion, and I will continue to speak up against it. I do not have hate in me. Just because you keep repeating this drivel doesn't make it true. Very interesting - I report current instances of intimidation, death threats, arson, gender discrimination, mutilation, mass murder, etc., and in your twisted view of the world that means that I am "blind and programmed to hate" like the people who commit all these crimes.
