And a QB that's not leading the nation in INTs. Better to do nothing than to keep turning the ball over, and that's where Ash and McCoy are worlds better than Gilbert.
True and I was booing him like everyone else. Still the talent is much better in the running game this year. Different OC has something to do with that as well.
The backs are going to be beasting next year. Brown, Bergeron, Gray and Monroe. Great game today though. Defensively and offensively Texas dominated.
He's not faster but he has great balance with a low center of gravity so he can run through tackles better. It's almost as if he bounces off would-be-tacklers.
ash isn't better in that regard. in gilbert's career he threw 23 INT's in 538 passes, or 1 per 23.4 attempts. last year he had 17 INT's in 441 attempts, or 1 per 25.9 attempts. ash is at 5 INT's in 105 attempts, or 1 per 21 attempts. not sure what it is now, but ash had a 114.9 qb rating coming into today vs gilbert's 111.0 last year. and he's also taken an amazing 11 sacks (many for epic losses) to gilbert's 18 last year, in less than a quarter of the pass attempts. he's basically playing like a worse garrett gilbert this year, even with the running game kicking everybody's ass except ou, something gilbert certainly didn't get to experience.
Kam, they don't since they are signed with ESPN now. It blows! Anyone know where I can grab/pirate/watch the game? I missed it.
I'm not saying Ash is the next coming of VY, but he is a true freshman, 5 months ago he was at his high school graduation. Longhorn fans have been spoiled by the Applewhite/Simms/Young/McCoy streak of great play. Vince and Colt both had a full redshirt year and 2 summers to get comfortable in the offense. True freshman struggle, it's a time tested fact. Garrett Gilbert had 2 full years and 3 summers, so i had no problem pulling the plug on him. Ash looks like he has solid arm strength, how a about a little patience. It's easy to see why other fans hate us, if we don't have an all-american under center we complain and say get rid of him. If he hasn't shown marked improvement by next year, then we can start to look for another guy.
or maybe it's a sign that tech's run defense is very, very, very bad.... like 111th in the nation bad. that said, Texas definitely looks like they have an embarrassment of riches at rb for the foreseeable future.
Thanks guys! Wouldn't you have them suck a little bit more so you can see them at the Meineke Texas Bowl?
5 picks -3 in one game against the then-1 team in the country, hello sample size? Regardless, the difference is that Gilbert put up those numbers in a spread, passing oriented offense designed to feature his skills as a passer. Otherwise there's really not much similar about the two.
Excuse me? When is the last time I went into a UT thread and smeared poop on the wall like that? Wait, nevermind, master troll at work. Nothin' to see here, folks.
Dude you are one of the most aggressive posters on this board......don't hide behind it.....you are who you are...... DD
