I almost never buy protection plans for most electronics these days. By the time the manufacture warranty doesn't cover it any more, it's almost time for an upgrade anyways. You can buy an awesome computer for $1.3K. That $800 TV 3 years ago is only going to be worth $400 now anyways, I'd roll the dice. You come out ahead anyways.

Sitting on it will void the warranty.

Pros: core i5 (3 times faster than IPAD), 4GB memory, 64 GB SSD, 12.1", window 7...
cons: price, battery life, 2.5 lb..

    IPAD2 is just a toy.

Does anyone here know about the Apple flat-rate repair at $425?

My wife's MacBook ceased to function. Took it in for diagnosis. Estimated $800 to repair. We balked. The guy looked around and found that Apple had some kind of deal that was a flat-rate repair for $425 (as I recall). That was almost a year ago for us...

A friend of my son's works (or worked) at an Apple store. I have messaged him to ask about this.

Apple prices are just ridiculous. Reminds me of Sun prices.

Why do you say this? I use mine for work all the time especially if I am out of town. I carry dozens of manuals on it. I remotely connect to my work computer. When I am on a customers network that doesn't have split VPN access, I use it as a convenient second laptop when I need to go outside their network. It is much more than a toy.

Been messing around on an iPad this morning and I find it difficult to use compared to Honeycomb. It's not friendly to this user.

I find the same thing using my Samsung Galaxy that I got in a Best Buy TV bundle. I would probably like it much better if I didn't use an iPad first.

How's a big grid of icons difficult to use? Surely you jest.

Having a universal Back button and Menu button that pulls up recent apps makes a big difference.

Double clicking the button at the bottom of the iPad brings up all running apps.

Good to know. Why doesn't it highlight the URL when I click into the address bar in Safari?

Hold down in the address field, a 'magnifying' glass type of thing will appear and then when you remove your finger, options will appear including 'select all'.

My son's friend, who works at the Apple Store, says he has never heard of this.

The guy who works at the store where I take my stuff (the are a certified Apple provider as well as PC providers) says they had never heard of it either until he called Apple and asked for options when he sensed my unwillingness to spend that much on a repair. A new one would have been at least twice as much, though, so I think he figured I'd be driving a Chevy rather than a Benz the next time out.

He said that they had never heard of it either. Might be worth inquiring about. Might have been a trial program or something. All I know is that they fixed more than what was initially diagnosed to be wrong with hers... for the flat rate.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing. I figured it would be simpler than that.

Yeah, I keep trying to double tap assuming it will select all.
