I have a friend transferring to east Houston for work. Him and his wife will be there for 3 years. Any suggestions?
You can't go wrong with Beaumont. It is God's country. The ancient Sumerians believed that the Garden of Eden was originally located in Beaumont.
Where in East Houston? I grew up in North Shore/Channelview area, that place has turned ghetto in the past 7-10 years. If its a little Northeast, I'd suggest Summerwood thats off the Beltway, but more close to 59 than i-10.
East Houston is somewhat vague. Maybe tell us who is going to work for. He can just commute and live many different places.
There isn't a much good in East Houston. Once you get past 45 its a wasteland. I suggest he just commute. I'm not being funny either, everything of note in Houston is on the westside. If he's not too cash strapped I wouldn't live there. I grew up in the Heights, that wouldn't be too bad a commute.
East Houston is literally the land that time forgot. Seriously, the only time i think that place exists is when i'm going to louisiana for some blackjack.
Funny you say that. While I was looking for the location of his friend's company (Elliott Turbomachinery), I noticed a competitor in Houston called "Blade Runner Turbomachinery". Ironically, they are located near South Post Oak and 610 -- little better landscape.
45 south - Clear Lake. Unfortunately, lots of affordable housing after the NASA cuts. Just pretend I10 East doesn't exist unless you are going to New Orleans or something.
Born and raised on the Eastside... Crosby to be exact. Spent some years in the Northshore area as well. To the OP, I would suggest searching for rental properties in one of the several New Forrest subdivisions in the Northshore area. To everyone one else who posted in this thread: ***** you...
Baytown along I-10 is growing consistently. Very affordable and almost no traffic or speed traps. I can get from downtown from home in 25 mins.
