Ok, now the hype has started for the Boycott Movement I have specific Ideas taht will make us heard and started and official Petition Lets pass this around to everyone on clutchfans, other boards, 2ksports boards, EVERYNBA fan you can think of. Send it to local or national writers you know. We can get this done http://www.change.org/petitions/fans-take-the-nba-back SIGN IT and LEts take charge again They are arguing how to distribute the revenue and money that WE GIVE THEM
This is also different in the set that we have 3 tangible options and for lasting a month. It is enough to effect the revenue and hurt them and make them hear our voice and given that it is only for now until one month after season has started, we still get the rest of the NBA That we love but get our voice in to make sure this gets solved
Fans have less backbone than the player's union. Once the lockout is over, GARM is going to have a meltdown. Sure, ratings and ticket sales will be down, and fans will boo, but a boycott has about as much chance for success as Lindsay Lohan entering rehab.
I know it will be tough, but first and foremost if we get people to sign this petition and show their rage and have this petitioin officially signed adn at the very least keep people from buying produts etc until the season started, the voice becomes heard it is worth a shot so spread it around, share it with people who can market it, facebook, twitter, whatever, lets at least try
Why? It is worth a shot, lets see clutchfans get some pull here and put pressure on them, EVen for experiment sake lets see if we can pressure them and make this heard, get it to Jon feighn at the Chron, anyone, if enough people see it and see that they are bickering back and forth about the REvenue that WE give them and deprive us of what we paid for over the years loyally and just disregard us outside of their PR BS than it could pass on
As long as the masses get their bread and circuses, they'll be fine. That is, once the lockout's over and football ends, people might start to go to games.
I'm confused. Do you want us to boycott, or to sign a petition? Also, there are 8 replies here before mine and four are yours. LOL!
The petition is to boycott, basically the petition gives the voice and if enough people sign it, the NBA will take notice, they will see in writing officially how fed up the fans are and the most important thing is the tangible things they are doing in how they are controlling the money the league is arguing about. In the end of the day they are stopping play and arguing over money that is OURS, we give that revenue, we give those caps with our demand, ticket, tv everything, if that source is fed up and says look we will not watch for a month or buy the product for a month, the NBA has to listen and get worried. I know enough people are pissed, and everyone here might be on some other hoops board be it espns, hoops hype, real gm, 2k sports, or wherever people just have to sign a paper and see things pick up, spread the word at the very least its low risk high reward, you take a second to sign it in, and if it spreads and we pass it forward, it just might work with nothing to lose
How many people that is going to sign, will be there watching the first game of the season, or at least the first rockets game? People are angry now, but when they get a deal, people will be happy again.
You know what's ironic about all this? This is the exact reason why the lockout happened in the first place. Casual fans are no longer supporting the teams with their pocketbooks. In today's world of entertainment everywhere, we no longer feel the need to buy season tickets, spend an hour on the road to drive to the stadiums, pay for overpriced parking, hot dogs, beer, etc. just to watch the games in person. Fans no longer feel the need to watch 82 games when there are gazillion other options on TV or computer. With ever growing entertainment options, the NBA is no longer worth as much to fans as it used to be. And this lockout is partly a response to that. If fans drop out even further, the owners probably would be asking the players for 40% BRI and seek more restrictive salaries due to ever dropping demand.
The point here is not even that, if we get enough people to sign it. Now we only have Billy Hunter/Fisher vs STern/ owners. That is all we here, enter the 3rd party in the discussion and in the debate, us, the fans, their money that they are negotiating is the revenue that WE bring in with our demand for the game. So just if you pass this along and enough people sign it and gets enough exposure that puts another voice in the argument and more pressure on both sides to get a deal done because there is some pressure, beyond not watching those games. Not buying any NBA products before season starts and even negative image impacts on any sponsors associated with the NBA is crucial this is worth a shot
there main revenue is not tickets, TV deals which is our demand, merchandise, so on there are plenty of pockets this shows that both sides if they keep holding off and making these demands without getting a deal done quickly their image and demand will suffer. This gives us a voice and makes some noise even just experimentally to see how far we can take it, spread the word, pass it along to any news outlet, any social media outlet, every forum lets at least see if we can catch momentum
An "Occupy NBA" movement would get more media coverage. Who wants to go sleep at the arenas, bang some bongo drums, dance around like gypsies, and hold a sign that may or may not be relevant? lol
that's true, lets goto the NBA league office in midtown manhattan, get chicken and rice, and camp out over there
So when the employees of the arena, teams and such take your job because of the petition.. It's ok right.
