Okay. I'm not the brightest guy in the world, but there are two things I don't understand here.

    1. Wouldn't 50-50 mean they divide up equally?
    2. Since the BRI calculate revenue and not profit, wouldn't other expenses make owners make less anyway? As players literally make pure profit on their portion of the BRI.

So no matter how you slice it, the owners aren't even offering a scenario where they collectively make more than the players collectively.

According to numerous sources on twitter world, about 50 or so players will push for decertification if a deal or at least a framework of a deal, isn't done by this weekend.

The owners do not want to players to De-certify.

The owners biggest Stick against De-certification is that they will void every ones contract.

What the owners fail to realize is if player contracts get voided every one becomes a free agent and team values plummet because their are no players to provide value.

If the owners are smart they will give up 52% and get the rest of what they want in the next CBA

 No one is trying to sell their teams tomorrow, so team value is irrelevant in the short term. Once a new CBA is negotiated, they'll move on. Besides, when the NFLPA decertified, everyone didn't immediately become a free agent - I'm not sure where that idea came from.

well thinking about that, some teams would benefit, by getting rid of bad contracts and they could sign anyone, and now the big market cities like LA, NY, miami, chicago could make superteams, by signning 3 or 4 superstars per team, or some teams could re-structure some really bad contracts that made before (like giving Joe Johnson 100 million dollars contract).

No 2 is partly correct. However, BRI does not include all the profits. A sizable portion of projects from luxury suits, arena naming rights, and advertisements in the arena are siphoned off from BRI for the purpose of helping provide the owners some money to run the team.

Of course, that does not cover all the operative costs for many small market teams. It does mean that a 50/50 BRI split is not a true 50/50 division of revenue.

Hell yes, this scenario would put Moreyball to the test. A chance to rebuild from nothing.

I doubt there is anything the owners fail to realize. They didn't become billionaires by being stupid when it comes to business.

They should have done exactly what the NFL did from day 1, decertify, but then Billy Hunter probably would not be paid.

The dude is in it for himself....
