From another board: I have already read some really alarming statements about his judgements for example he has categorica*lly denied any testimonia*ls given by minors..." I will bet you everything I have that the dad had very little, if any, discussions with his daughter about illegally downloading music. I mean, did you hear this person? A video with him smacking her 17 times with a belt, and HE'S the one who's been put through hell?
Any parent that needs physical punishment to raise their children are bad parents. Unfortunately there are many bad parents in the world. I can't say I’m shocked with how many condone this type of punishment, but that is because I have accepted that there are many idiots in the world. I'm wondering if the people who condone physically hurting your child also think physically hurting your wife is ok? It is pathetic how a grown man can abuse his child like that. i really hope he crosses someone who is stronger than he is.
After reading some of these comments I thought he punched her in the face then sodomized her and then cut her face to look like the joker It was a 'whoopin' [whippin'?] Maybe a bit more and over the top but A extreme spanking none the less. The Dr Spock Indoctrination kicks in now it is a viral sensation of the anti spanking crowd "Hhhhmmmmmm . . . . now where is that thread on how unruly and undiscipline kids are these days . . . . " "hhhhmmmmm . . . I wonder would people be so upset if this was Justin Beiber?" It is what it is . . .the result of this will be . .. . interesting Rocket River
I didn't say I felt sorry for him either. I don't know if he did or didn't. I am not going to make the assumption one way or another, because I have no clue. Maybe he did, and this was anger over the fact that she ignored him. It does appear that the downloading was no big deal to her, but a big deal to him (perhaps because he is a judge, which ironically would look negatively upon him if it was every found out that illegal downloading was going on his house).
If they say STEALING they feel it would add justification so . . they use downloading to make him more the Monster Presenting the FACTS and allowing the audience to draw its own conclusion would mean they trust the audience to 'draw the right' conclusion that is simply not the way of modern news they MAKE PERCEPTION more than just report the news Rocket River
What an asinine statement to make. You want to say you don't agree with spanking, that is fine, but don't call somebody a bad parent because they spank their child. Each child is different. And yes, I spank my wife when she has been bad.
Why shouldn't I call somebody a bad parent if they beat their child? They are bad parents. I do not care if people are offended by my statement, If ou beat your child you are a bad parent. Would you be happy If i added: IMHO? I'm sure you cannot find a study that actually states that beating your child with a belt over and over again is a good way to raise a child. I'm pretty sure that people who are abused (physically punished) as a child have a higher chance of becoming violent themself. Beating someone who is weaker and cannot defend him/herself is a terrible thing to do.
In essence, what you are saying is that this was worse than a spanking but it's okay because spanking is okay.
I think everyone would agree that 'beating' a child would make one a bad parent, however, you originally said 'physical punishment' which could be a simple swat on the butt.
He should have scolded her, maybe whipped her on the butt twice told her not to do it again in a calm way and that would have been that. But he decided to go all psycho and beat her obsessively. There is no justification whatsoever for how he acted. My only question is why did she wait this long to release the video? Maybe scared of her father?
What this guy did was beating. Anybody saying otherwise are bad parents IMHO. I understand there is a difference between a swat on the butt and what this guy did. I believe that you should never use pain to punish or teach a child. If you need pain in order to make a child see your point than you really have a problem. And using pain as a punishment or for teaching a child is a form of bad parenting. That being said people who use very light forms of physical punishment, might not be bad parents if they do almost everything else right. I'm curious if the people who do not mind physical punishment for a child also accept it if a teacher uses physical punishment, or if a government uses it on woman who are unfaithfull.
Well congratulations to Rashmon for being the only person who bothered to provide some kind of reference from which he made his comments. (Also noticed Juicystream provided some reference as well.) Props to you sir. I guess the reason I am most curious is because whenever something inflammatory like this happens, many people suddenly become 'experts' on the subject and make sweeping authoritative statements, but fail to provide a point of reference. For example: arno-ed says anyone who uses physical punishment is a bad parent. While I do not judge his statement (as it is an opinion, rather than a fact, as he presents it), it is impossible to know his level of experience with parenting. On the one hand, if he is a parent himself, and has raised a few kids up, and done well with them, etc etc, then his *opinion* carries more weight than if he has no children, or is essentially a child or teenager or young single person himself with no children and no actual parenting experience. Again, not judging, just observing that such bold statements would be more open to proper analysis if he also provided his own level of actual experience with the subject.
Then, in your opinion, there are tens of millions of bad parents, because tens of millions of bad parents have swatted their kid's butts or slapped their hands. Growing up in public elementary school and Catholic junior high and high schools it was not unusual for the vice-principal or coach to administer swats (at least in the 60s and 70s).
Indeed. I do believe that however slapping a persons hand because he shouldn't touch something is not physical punishment, and using pain, it is more to create a shock effect, and I do not disaprove of that. I know it was common in schools, but I was wondering if people approve of it. If I found out a school was using pain as a punishment I would never put my children on that school.
I don't understand how you don't consider a slap on the hand or a swat on the butt as using 'pain', because, generally, both those actions will incur some sort of pain. Do you have children?
Given the circumstances, that was way overboard. But I don't think the guy should lose his job over it though. He's never had any problems in the past as a judge. Maybe the dude needs counseling more than anything. I've been beaten worse than that by my parents but I deserved it though.
