Didn't we already get the 1.04 update or was it the 1.03?

Anyways, found a good way to make 7k in 2-3 mins. Took me three hours to save 20k to purchase the item to get into this area. I found a good way to get humanity. I'll leave my summon sign up while I'm browsing the internet and when someone summons me, I'll help them defeat the boss and get 1 humanity. I'm at eight now and maxing it out to max out all my kindles and rinse and repeat.

1.03 is the latest so far. 1.04 has just been announced, but there's no release date for it yet.

Another good way to farm for humanity is to just kill rats, as they drop it every now and again. There's three of them in the area underneath where the red dragon is hanging out. But before farming this way, you should grab the "Covetous Gold Serpent Ring" from Sen's Fortress, which will increase your item find by 200, drastically increasing chances of humanity drops. Farming will also go faster if you can reach the bonfire through the gate *directly underneath* the red dragon, but this requires killing him or making a very tricky dash past him.

Just finished the depths and heading to blight town soon. I bought the power glove and upgraded to +12...and it's freaking OP. 500 dmg on any of my fire spells.

I really didn't mind Blight Town that much, although everyone else seems to hate it.

The areas I disliked were 1. New Londo Ruins, because you need to have curse status to damage the ghosts, and 2. the Painted World, because it just has a lot of tough enemies in general, and you can't leave once you enter without finishing the whole area.

I hate falling to my death and getting cursed a million times. Lost 200k I farmed up to max out my pyro and ran out of arrows from shooting all those mosquitos.

Are you talking about toxin or curse? I don't believe you can get cursed in Blight Town... that's just from the frogs in the sewers.

As for the toxic dart shooters, once you kill them, they stay dead, so they really didn't cause me any problems. It does help to use the spider shield, since that shield blocks all poison and toxin build-up.

As for the mosquitoes... I just melee them when they get near me, and ignore the rest. There are places where they infinite spawn, anyway.

And falling... I did fall a few times, but not a lot more than other areas.

But meh. Different strokes. I saw people on the Gamefaqs boards who thought the Gaping Dragon and Capra Demon were two of the hardest bosses in the game, while for me they were some of the easiest. Just depends on your playstyle and equipment.

The Pinwheel boss is ridiculously easy. Like he's in the wrong game or something. "Charge! Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Oh, he's dead."

Haven't made a lot of progress. Mostly going back to some areas for missed items, and checking out optional areas. Also thought about farming Titanite Slabs, but after spending some time and not getting a single one, decided I didn't have the patience for it. Probably need one or two good long sessions to finish the game (although that's assuming I don't get mad during the last few areas...which are apparently frustrating).

The pinwheel boss was indeed ridiculously easy. Although I must say, those wheel skeletons are some of the more annoying enemies in the game, especially if they gang up on you.

I just finished my second playthrough, and did just the tutorial section of NG++. I imagine it'll be a while until I go through it again. I've got Batman: Arkham City and Battlefield 3 to play, and then UMvC3 in three weeks. That should keep me occupied.

There are very few items that can't be farmed somewhere. If you're looking for Dragon Scales, those are some of the more annoying ones to get. The good news is that you're going to get about 5 of them or so in the Hollow/Ash Lake.

Ash Lake is also where you can enter the Dragon Covenant, which will allow you to challenge other players online for their Dragon Scales. This is the surest way to farm them. If you don't want to go online, you'll have to kill Drakes in the Valley of the Drakes, but they only drop Dragon Scales very rarely.

The most common materials actually can be bought. The smith near the entrance to the forest sells titanite shards, and there's a merchant at the top of Sen's Fortress near the entrance to Anor Londo that will sell you large titanite shards.

In any case, this page will tell you where to find materials:

IMO, I wouldn't bother upgrading the Drakesword. There are better weapons later in the game to use your materials on.

Yeah I wasn't thinking of upgrading Drakesword, I'm looking at options if I could upgrade lightning weapons cuz I heard those are powerful, so I need to kill lizard to get the slab in order to upgrade lightning weapon..

I actually got cursed in the hallow and can't continue because i always just die to those big mushrooms as they one shot me.. gonna run back to buy purge stone and go back down again..

The new patch was released in Japan, and it should hopefully be available for other regions soon.

NeoGAF has a good summary of the changes. Some pretty big ones:

The thread includes some more details, including some early impressions from gamers in Japan who might have some specifics.

Sounds like it's all good stuff. I wish they were more specific with some of those notes, but I get the general idea.

I see they fixed a couple problems that I'd noticed but didn't even remember at this point. For instance, the broken lock-on... this has always been one of the shakier aspects of both games. It's actually mostly okay as it is, but the main problem is that it was really, really hard to get the lock-on to switch enemies. Hopefully they fixed that. Also, they addressed the fact that you couldn't see how many souls were needed for the next level-up. That was a small thing, but significant.

I imagine I'll probably do a third play-through when the patch comes out to check everything out. Good times.

Yeah, they had that whole "like us on Facebook, and we'll make a big Dark Souls announcement sooner" thing going on. A PC version did seem like the most likely candidate for a big announcement.

Not sure how I feel about this

Having a fresh start and hyper active online is great...but shelling out at least another $50 for it...?

Yess!!! Freaking hate console games because of the stupid controllers. Still haven't install Mass Effect 3 that I bought. Will probably leave it till this fall when there's nothing to do.

    Two updates on this game.

First of all, the game's creator finally revealed the secret of the mysterious Pendant... which is that it does nothing at all.

Yes. He really was just pranking everyone. Pretty awesome. Very From Software thing to do. I lol'd.

Secondly... the extra content that came out as part of the PC Prepare to Die Edition came out as DLC on the console editions relatively recently (think it was late October?), and I just played it.

I highly recommend the extra content. It's really excellent. Maybe I'm biased since I've already played the rest of the game so much, but I think the DLC is now one of the my favorite portions of the game. The highlight is 4 new bosses... all unique, no re-skins. And they are all pretty fun to fight.

To anyone curious about how to get to the new content...

Pre-reqs: Must have Lordvessel and Rite of Kindling (Rite of Kindling not technically required... but fighting these bosses with 5 Estus Flasks is basically suicide).

    Then:
    1. Save Dusk of Oolacile (waterfall area in forest, with the Hydra... look up how to save her if you don't already know).
    2. Warp to Anor Londo and run into the Duke's Archives. Immediately before you get into the first room of books, there will be a new golem standing to the right of the doorway. If you have saved Dusk, he will drop an item.
    3. Go back to where the golden Oolacile golem was standing when you first saw him. There will now be a portal thingie you need to touch to warp to the new content.
