Downloaded their album last night and just got done listening to it and I agree with you. Rep for weakfromtoday.
WU LYF - Go Tell Fire To The Mountain Interesting new band I must say, I'm intrigued. Still jammin that YouLagoo though.
Saigon - The Great Story Never Told Probably the best rap album so far this year...of course I've only heard 3 or 4. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Yc-k1KOzJtY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I'm fan of them, love that album, top to bottom. I just got into The War On Drugs while checking out a list of best albums from Spin. Favorite song on the album is Baby Missiles. I've also been listening to the not really remastered Achtung Baby. There's a an old song I remember from the stolen session tapes that they recorded recently on the b-sides and unreleased tracks disc: http://blogs.1077theend.com/endmusi...-discovery-u2-blow-your-house-down-new-track/
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/MAuo_JOzMVQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> This is from ... Hall & Oates - Do It for Love (2003) which compares favorably with their work in the 80s.
Still listening to these guys... <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ljyVB0IK-Hg?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ljyVB0IK-Hg?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>
Going to see Krieger & Manzarek on the 16th, so this month it's all Doors: Doors Strange Days Waiting For The Sun Soft Parade Morrison Hotel LA Woman Absolutely Live American Prayer When You're Strange soundtrack BTW, When You're Strange is an excellent documentary of The Doors, probably the best one out there. "The killer awoke before dawn...."
Yeah, a friend just sent us Slave Ambient and it is on heavy rotation right now, especially in the car. These guys used to be "Kurt Vile's band," and he still plays on a couple of songs, but it's very different from their Kurt stuff. Am going to check out Youth Lagoon... Manny, we have a lot of listening in common, I think. I'm a regular Windy and Carl user, and Blonde Redhead listener.
Bob - that's cool. I got a couple of months ago a bunch of mp3's off Amazon and War on Drugs was one of them. I've only listened to it once but need to do so again. W & C are great and was finally able to get the rest of their stuff. I remember you mentioning Blonde Redhead in my shoegazing thread a couple of years ago - "23" is my favorite album by them, by far but I am still searching for what would be my next favorite album by them. "Penny Sparkle" isn't bad but doesn't measure up to 23, IMO.
