This. On two separate tackles I remember Cush driving his arm/elbow into the dude's ribs/back. The first sent Jax quarterback (Thor?) to the sideline to get those ribs wrapped up. Now, I'm not saying I have a problem with Cushing. But I would if he weren't on the Texans.
Actually, I think it's the inside guys that are doing most of the cut-blocking. And since so many of the run plays go right, it's probably Myers and Briesel that are the main culprits. That being said,
If you read the Saints boards, you'll find plenty of talk of Texans and their dirty (legal) chop blocks.
There's no such thing as a legal chop block. A chop block is when one offensive player has a defender blocked high, and another cuts out his legs. That is a real player safety issue, a personal foul, and is almost always called, intentional or not. What they call dirty is a cut block, where the offensive player takes out an unblocked player's legs. This is not illegal, but some players think it's dirty in some situations. The funny thing is that running backs are almost never called dirty for this, even though it's really common in blitz pickup.
Dirty? Nah. Soft/clean kids before, soft/clean kids now. Never considered dirty before, not dirty now. Matter of fact, those guys are softer than Charmin toilet paper. Spoiler
who cares if people think we are dirty? a win is sweet, but getting under people's skin while you beat them is just gravy.
I didn't see any dirty play. Maybe the Jaguars are just a team full of p*****s. You saw Gabbert weeping in the 1st quarter when Cushing pummeled his mid-section.
http://www.actionnewsjax.com/mediacenter/local.aspx?videoid=2981343 I think sessions did something prior to make duane react like that
I think the cut block should be illegal. It can cause injury when someone goes that low. This just like the rockets flopping. I don't like it, but its not like you are not going to root for your team.
If opposing players want to get rid of our chop-blocking scheme, then they need to win games and keep us out the playoffs... Kubiak gets fired... Its a win-win... Everybody is happy...
Players would only be saying we're dirty if our team is good. No one's said this about us in the past cuz we've never been particularly good until this year. I take the "dirty" claims as a good sign.
