I get your point. Some people can't help but slow down to stare at a car wreck and some people can't help but respond to DD.

No I comprehended your post including the flawed deep ball hypothesis.

Here you go, analysis of throws 20 yards or more for 2010 season. Ranking all QB's with completion % of those throws 20 yards or more.

Just curious, DD. Please compare Matt Schaub with Rex Grossman.

I have not watched enough of Rex to make a real good comparison, but from what little I have seen, it seems Schaub is slightly better.

Well, if you think Schaub is only slightly better, then it's true you haven't watched enough Rex.

A Schaub stat for week 8:

"Schaub on third downs: 8-of-12 (with eight first downs, including a touchdown) for 102 yards."

    http://www.footballoutsiders.com/quick-reads/2011/week-8-quick-reads

    Oh, and still without Andre!

And just for fun (same link):
McCoy had this dreadful stretch starting in the third quarter and going into the fourth: 5-of-10 passing for 21 yards, no first downs, one sack, one interception, and one fumbled snap.

    LOL.

Yeah McCoy is really struggling as a 2nd year QB.

Nice to see Matt had some good success during that stretch of the game.

Of course he saw a guy at his feet in a 7-0 game and decided to hold the ball and fumble it.....but hey....whatever.

Jeez, you gotta be kidding. First off, lol at 20 yards being considered "deep". Those plays to OD/KW/Casey/Foster on the 78 yd TD, are wide open...we have a great offense, and the throws that result in plays of 20 yards are not the result of pinpoint, high velocity footballs being thrown the receivers way.

Let me ask you this, how many real deep balls have you ever seen Schaub complete with the receiver in stride? AJ would have about 10 more career TDs if he didn't have to slow down for Schaubs throws. And this season, Schaub is completely overthrowing the deep ball. This isn't a knock on Schaub, as not many QBs consistently hit the long ball...but throwing deep is not Schaub's strength, and I'm okay with that.

Also, just watch footballs games, stop looking at stats...Schaub does not have a cannon of an arm. I will name you 20 QBs that have stronger arms. Can't believe you're even remotely contesting this. It's lol.

Personally, this is a tactic I really dislike - random made-up statistic thrown out to bolster a position with nary an ounce of backing evidence. I'm cool if you want to speak anectdotally - but keep in mind that 99.9999999% of us, once we've made up our mind about something, routinely look for and/or only remember instances that back-up our already-drawn conclusions.

If you can legitimtely pinpoint 10 instances where Schaub underthrew AJ on balls that would have otherwise gone for TDs, show them to us. If not, it's merely a meaningless puff of nothing significant of nothing.

I can remember about 4-5 balls where Matt probably cost AJ a TD with a bad throw.

3-4 of those were in one particular year, 2009.

You know what though? I can think of examples where AJ cost Matt a touchdown by doing something stupid and either dropping the pass or kneeing it up into the air and turning it into an interception.
