yeah, its a lot of money, that's why i think its more than the move. I really don't know what to think ultimately when talking on passing on that kind of money. weird situation

see, i disagree. eventually drayton finds a buyer. i don't see that taking a decade.

what crane is talking about doing is what i think mclane will be doing, anyway. hell, Crane is talking about a $60 million payroll. he's talking about taking slow measured steps.

the quickest way for Drayton to improve that sales price is to get young talent, and lots of it, contributing to W's at the big league level.

i agree. very weird all the way around.

i think the move plays into the labor agreement though. it's the Players' Union that has been adamant about getting to 15/15...about not having one division with 4 teams while another has 6.

I don't mean it will take a decade to find a new owner. I mean it will sink this club into a spiral deeper than they're in now and will take longer to get out of. It will get exponentially worse every year a plan isn't in place...kind of like how they got to this point.

If Crane, et al, is approved, those steps would begin immediately. If not, at best, it would be another year before McLane could find another buyer that would come anywhere near what he would have gotten from Crane. Another year of doing nothing other than removing payroll for the sake of removing payroll will destroy any momentum they had in rebuilding the farm.

But they're working on a plan right now. They're selling off talent to bring in young guys. That's the same plan Crane is saying he'll explore.

Whether McLane or Crane (I just now realized those names rhyme) they are going to remove payroll. Crane sounds to be more aggressive about that than McLane does, frankly. We're just as likely to get lucky with young talent on the farm under McLane for another year than we are with Crane...and even if one is better than the other, neither is going to doom the franchise for a decade.

We can't walk away from thirty years of and owner named "Mc". Surely there's a McMurtry or McDougal or McDade that would like to buy the team?

So when it's comparing the Cowboys and Texans, you discard current status and focus on history. But when it involves the Mavs and Rangers, you discard history and focus on current status.

    Biased much?

"2-3 steps"...basically how much Crane can get out of the move to the AL. Honestly, I'd ask for a 100 million, which should give him almost two years of free payroll.

Since he made the agreement with McLane. So, they've gotten nowhere?
