What I dont understand is how someone who has proven to be wrong so many times when it comes to evaluation of individual talent as it pertains to team sports, can still come back every day claiming to be so knowledgable.
Can he rack up 100 posts in this thread? He's up to 83 and counting. EDIT: Up to 86 since I posted this...
Ah, see, there is the crux of the matter, people say I am proven wrong, yet almost always, in the end, I am right. See that is what happens when you see things on a greater depth than John Q does, you just have to live with the serfs telling the King they are wrong...when all the time, the King (me), knows I am right. There are a few exceptions to that though, those only serve to prove the rule. DD
Anyway, I am done now. The point has been hammered home, the blacksmith will put down the hammer against the anvil of righteousness and move on to greater things. At the end of the day, I hope Schaub rises up to the challenge and leads this team to the ultimate victory, this team is good enough to win it all - they just need to believe it themselves. DD
DD is either the greatest troll on this forum or the proud owner of the greatest disparity between his actual sports knowledge and purported sports knowledge.
DD , if u expect homers to admit that Schaub isnt the answer, then you deserve all the criticism thrown your way.... I agree that his numbers in the past didnt always reflect his impact on the game... His numbers ,this year, clearly represents what people such as yourself and I, have been saying for years... He's good enough to help us win games but isnt the reason we're winning...Thats what separates Schaub from the better QB's , IMO... Those previous 4000 yard seasons he's had , didnt make me believe that he would lead us to the promised land... But Im satisfied with his play this year thus far because honestly, I dont have high hopes for him anyhow...
I good sir, am neither troll, nor lacking in sports knowledge. I do enjoy a good hearty debate from time to time though. I applaud the Schaub is the answer people, HOOOOSAAAAH !!! You are steadfast in your beliefs and that is something I can appreciate. I hope one day, I get served a good dose of crow on this matter, but for now, it is straight Porterhouse. DD
I'm actually not a blind follower. In fact, Donny and I, who agree that Schaub is much better than people realize in "close and late situations" (he, too, BTW, posted Schaub results independent of mine and drew the same conclusion), actually disagree about Schaub when it comes to "big" games - I'm still waiting for him to have an out-and-out great game against a quality opponent while DM would argue he has. I think Donny nails it - there are... iirc, 18 "close and late" games - if you're truly open-minded and willing to be critical AND admit you might not be right... I think you'd find the results surprising. And I didn't cherry-pick - until I was asked to. Those are his "close and late" games and I'm very frank with the results. I don't hide or sugarcoat it - if he makes a mistake, it's noted. If he fails, it's noted.
LOL! I say good chap, a rather humorous jokester you are! What would it take for you to be considered getting served Crow? Him having a great statistical season? (derp) Maybe being able to win without Andre? (derp derp) Maybe willing his team to victory without impressive stats? (derp derp derp) Making the playoffs? Ah, thought it was Kate!
No, DD is just going "Rockets Withdrawal" since the 2011-12 NBA season is in the toilet right now. Although once the NBA season eventually comes back, it'll be the Rockets themselves in the toilet and DD will still be unhappy.
Can you just answer me this - who is saying Schaub is the answer, and what question is he supposedly the answer to? I think most here are just saying Schaub is good enough to win with; not the best, but you can certainly do worst and the QB spot is absolutely not anywhere near the top of this team's concerns. So if the question is, "What quarterbacks can you win with", then Schaub is absolutely one of the answers. If the question, and it seems like this is the question you are asking, is "Who is the best quarterback in the league", then no, Schaub is not the answer. If the question is "Who is the best quarterback that the Texans can reasonably acquire in the foreseeable future" then Schaub may not be the only answer, but he is certainly on the shortlist. So what is your answer to each of these questions? Unless you can answer that then there really isn't any point in complaining.
